"Oh. And sis... you can stop calling him brother-in-law now as we are not together anymore." With that she struts up the stairs. Leaving the whole family stunned. Including her so called father, who sat and watched everything that happened without lifting her finger. or saying a word.
The room fell into an uneasy silence. No one spoke. Even the sound of the ticking clock seemed louder.
Kent's expression hardened as he stared at her. her mother's lips parted slightly, as if she wanted to say something but couldn't.
Kathrine stiffened, the smile on her lips slowly fading. And for the first time, Eveline felt strangely calm. She looked at each of them, one after the other.
Breaking the silence. Kathrine ran up the stairs after Eveline.
"Sister...sister, hold on. Please wait." She walked into the room and looked at Eveline with a smile on her face.
Eveline's back was turned, packing what she deemed important into a bag.
"Sister what do you mean anymore. Did something happen between you and brother-in-law?" she said softly. Fidgeting with her fingers as she spoke.
"You can stop the act now, Kathrine" she stopped what she was doing as she turned to face Kathrine. "I know about everything. I was there that night in the hotel room and saw everything." Picking up her bags from the bed and hanging her shoulder bag on. "And I'm okay with that. You can have him. I don't care anymore."
"sister"
Kathrine wasn't preforming anymore, as the soft voice gone. She walked up to Eveline slowly.
"So...he finally divorced you." A slow smile. "Oh, what a pity. Dear sister, what are you going to do now huh? You don't have anything." Kathrine says as she walked up to Eveline. Who was packing up her stuff within a small bag and grabbed her hand.
"You...do you think you are better than me?" she says, pushing Eveline close to the large glass window. She tilted her head. "Did you think he wanted you... a substitute. A placeholder.
"Kathrine". Eveline looked up at her. "Are you done?"
Something shifted in her sister's eyes. The composure slipping off.
Kathrine looked passed her, to the window through the corner of her eye. Smiled. She noticed that someone was approaching.
"Sister please tell me where I went wrong. I would change I promise."
What the hell does she mean. Eveline was confused, until she saw someone approaching the door.
Kpishhh...ahhhh
The sounds of the window breaking as Kathrine pushed both herself and Eveline through the window.
