Maria's POV:
My heart stopped for a second when I heard the gunshot. My grip on Sheryaar was tight enough to leave marks and he was trying his best to keep me behind him. He was protecting me.
I opened my eyes to a different view. A bodyguard was standing behind Alisha aiming his g*n at her. She was looking behind us with a furious look. I looked over my shoulder and saw Joseph standing there with his g*n.
It brought me some relief. We are safe now.
"Don't move!" The bodyguard warned her.
Her face was turning red in anger. The bodyguard snatched the g*n from her and she cursed under her breath. She tried to shoot me but thank God, Joseph arrived at the exact time and saved the life of my husband who was shielding me with his own body.
