[Juniper] I didn’t know how I got to the couch in the living room, but that was where I woke with my head in Jaxon’s lap. He was stroking my hair and it took a moment for me to remember what had happened. One of my brothers was shot. It felt like ice water was flowing in my veins. I didn’t know which one and my mind was racing through the possibilities. Tears started to flow as I reached up to grip Jaxon’s shirt. “Please… please tell me it wasn’t Remy.” I whimpered. Understanding dawned on his face. He hadn’t thought it could be Remy. My little brother wasn’t easily overlooked by me. I loved all of my brothers, but Remy was my baby and needed me more than the others ever had. “No. No, sweet. I called Trace. It was Carson. He’s in critical condition, but alive.” Jaxon said quickly.
