Chapter seventeen

Joseph:

The run to the eastern border was longer then i expected. It was so nice to run as my wolf. Being king I rarely get the chance.

I miss this.

Yes. Me to Alpha. I wish we had more time to do stuff like this.

The wind blows through my fur making it stand up. The smell of the vampire gets carried and I can tell we’re getting close. I shift back changing into some clothes hidden behind the trees. The vampire from the other night is standing just over the line on the border into their territory. Between us is the small river.

“What do you want?” I growl remembering that he saw my poor mate naked.

“Alpha William. My name is Andrew”. He calmly says. “ I have been sent by King Dracula to pass along to you a message”.

“I’m not Alpha William. Alpha William is currently locked up in the dungeon and striped from his title.”

“Oh. Ummmm…” he looks between us.

“Um…who is the current Alpha of this pack then?”. Michael puts up his hand. As he steps forward he holds up his chest.

“That would be me. Alpha Michael”. He says with such confidence. I’m kind of proud of him. I was worried that he might get abit nervous this being his first Alpha duty but he seems to be doing fine.

“Then who are you?”. He points to me. “The beta?”. Sam breaks out laughing.

“ I am King Joseph”.

“Oh ok.Well in that case…” he turns to Alpha Michael. “Alpha Michael I have a message from king Dracula to you. He demands your presents at the old meeting spot by the lake on the hill. You must bring the girl. If you do not comply then you will be asking for war.”

“I do not wish for war but due to this being a message for the Late Alpha William not me this message isn’t very clear”.

“ Yes. I realised that”. He says quietly.

“As far as I know we do not have a lake on any hill heres and I wouldn’t know what girl he is referring to. We have many.”

“She’s the one with the red hair”.

Emily! What could he want with my Emily?

“What does he want with her?” Michael gets in before me.

“That, I can not tell you. But I can promise you he means no harm to her. You have my word for it” Everyone is silent for a moment.

“How do we know for sure we can trust your word? Your a vampire”. Michael says. “You have been attacking our towns for weeks”. Andrew just grins a big creepy grin.

“You can’t. But trusting me is better then war isn’t it?”.

“How about this” I speak up. “You get your king to stop the attacks on the towns in this area and I will be willing to meet with him. Alone With the girl. But it will be under my terms and if he tries to hurt her he won’t just be starting a war with one small pack but the whole kingdom as one”.

“That can be arranged” his still grinning.

Sam. Will you be willing to go with him and talk to the king on my behalf?

Of course sir.

“I will be sending sam with you to talk to your king on my behalf. I expect to get him back in one piece and alive”.

“No promises”. I growl at him. “I’m kidding. I’m kidding.”

Make the meeting in a few days and somewhere on wolf territory so we have time to prepare. I’ve never had to have a meeting with Dracula yet but if what dad says about him is correct the meeting will only go one of two ways.

He nods.

Don’t forgot you won’t be able to mind link on their territory, so make sure you take your phone and call me if something goes wrong.

I’ve got this sir. Don’t worry.

“Are we ready to go or do you need to grab anything?”. He asks sarcastically.

“If you don’t mind I would just like to run back to the pack house to get a few things. Be ready to go in an hour?”.

“Fine. Whatever. But hurry up. The king will be expecting me back soon and he does not like when I’m late”. Sam takes off towards the house.

“So what did Alpha William do to get his title stripped?”. Andrew asks.

“What’s it to you?”. Michael snaps.

“Just curious. I mean the guy always did seem like a prick.”

“If you’ve meet him before then why did you pretend you hadn’t?”. That is a very good question. I completely forgot he had though I was William earlier.

“I haven’t.” he shrugs. “Just stories from the king’s previous messager. He likes to change messagers every few years so one person doesn’t learn to much about his going ons.” He looks over at me. “Don’t ask. I won’t tell you anyway”.

Hmm. This guy gives me all sorts of mixed feelings. As soon as Sams back we see him off before heading back to the house. I let Michael know how much of an amazing job he did tonight before trudging my way back up to my room. Right now all I want to do is be close to my mate. On the walk back all I could do was think about her telling me she was ready. Is she really ready for me to mark her? I want to mark her so bad but I don’t want to push her. As I open the door I hear the bath running.
