Chapter twenty

Sarah:

I kicked and screamed for Joseph as the guards dragged me away. How could he do this to me??! Anyone would be stupid to leave me for her. I should have been queen.

“Stupid b***h”. I mumble to myself.

“Hahaha”. Laughter bellows from the cell next to me.

“What are you laughing at?”. I growl.

“You.” A man with short black hair walks out of the shadows.

“Who are you?”. I ask rudely.

“Alpha William”.

“Alpha? Ha. What did you do to be down here then?”

“Nothing”. He snaps.

“An Alpha wouldn’t be in a cell for no reason. You must have done something really bad”.

“I was just running my pack the way I saw fit. Until that asshole came along”.

“Hey watch it! That assholes my mate…. Well he should have been”.

“And now I understand why your down here”. He laughs. “Messed with the slave didn’t you?”.

“Stupid b***h”.

“You say that a lot”. He sighs.

“ Yeah well she is. That should have been my crown. Like how f*****g dare she. I was so close!”.

“What if I told you you could still have a chance at the crown?”. I raise an eyebrow at him.

“How?”.

Emily:

Joseph was still asleep when I woke up. I didn’t want to wake him as I know he was up late last night talking to the council. I was so excited to find out anything I could about my mother last night, But after seeing Sarah yet again in my mates office trying to sleep with him, I was just pissed. I couldn’t concentrate on anything else. Things ended so abruptly for them so of course she would be hurt but she doesn’t have to keep acting the way she did. He told her multiple times he wasn’t interested.

I feel kind of bad that she’s spending the night in the dungeons.

As I sip on the coffee in my hand sam walks into the kitchen looking exhausted.

“Hey”. He says pouring himself a fresh cup of coffee.

“Hey. How did last night go?”. I ask. He takes a seat across from me.

“Ok I think. A time and place has been agreed on for the meeting which is good. He was a little pissed it wasn’t Alpha William. I got the impression that he might have dealt with him a fair few times and isn’t a fan”.

“Well that’s good. The meeting might not go well if he finds we have his friend in our dungeon”.

“Haha that’s true. How did things go here?”.

“Well Sarah’s in the dungeon for trying to sleep with my mate again”.

“Again? Seriously. I’ve always hated her. She’s always been self-centred. Only caring about her looks and not about the people around her. She would always go on about how she would be queen one day and how everyone would have to do bow down to her.”

“I’m under the impression she thinks I’m a stupid b***h”. I say.

“Why do you think that?”.

“She told me ”.

“Oh ok. Yeah she’s kinda a b***h herself.”

“Hey Sam I know your probably about to go to bed and you deserve the sleep but I was wondering if you could give me a quick hand first?”.

“Yeah. No problem. What can I help with?”

“Alice thinks my mother might have been Williams half sister. I was hoping to find some information in the office but I wouldn’t know where to start or what I’m looking for. Joe said said something about Alphas keeping a record of births and pack statuses within a pack?”.

“Yeah most packs are required to keep records of all babies born within the pack and to what family’s. They normally keep them in a safe”.

“Damn. Safe means we would need a code”.

“I know the code”. Sam and I both turn to see Michael standing by the door. “Im sorry I didn’t mean to ease drop. I was just coming in to grab something small to eat before I went on a run”.

“You really know the code?”. I stand up, Pushing my chair in behind me.

“Yeah. I was in charge of keeping the records up to date. That should have been Williams job but he was kinda lazy”.

“Can you open it for me?”. I ask.

“ Of course”. I follow him into the office and he pulls a painting down from the wall. Right behind it is the safe. He puts a code into it and it makes a clicking noise.

“Here”. He passes me a folder full of papers. “This is all the information we have on all the members born into our pack since the beginning”.

“Thankyou. Do you remember anything about Ariel?”

“Ariel?”.

“Williams half sister”.

“To be honest I don’t really remember to much from before I become beta. Anything before that is kinda of a blur”.

“It could be cause William was always pushing his Alpha commands on you. Sometimes it fries the brain when exposed to to much Alpha power I guess you could call it. Your memory will come back over time”. I almost forgot Sam was in here.

“Sam it’s ok you can go to bed now. You deserve the rest. When Joe wakes up I’ll let him know your back.”

“You sure you’ll be right?”.

“ I’m sure”.

“Well good day then”. Sam heads out of the room leaving me with Michael. I take a seat at the desk and Michael sits across from me. I start flicking through the papers.

“Found it! This one is meant to be the Alpha line”. I look through the tree as I get to the bottom I realise something. “ Williams not on here”. I say.

“What?”. Michael stands up behind me.

“William isn’t on here. See here’s Alpha Mark. And where Williams name is…. Is yours?.”

“That can’t be right”.

“Have you never noticed this before?”.

“I’ve had no reason to look at the Alpha line”.

“William should never have been Alpha. Your the rightful Alpha of the pack”.

“That can’t be right. I’m not related to the Alpha. I can’t be. My parents were both warriors”.

I continue to flick through the paper work.

“What we’re your parents names?”.

“Lisa and Paul travis”.

“Here they are. Lisa and Paul Travis… and William there son. It’s right here in writing”.

“How could this be possible? Maybe our names were just documented wrong”.

“Maybe. Maybe you should ask the pack doctor? He might know”.

“That’s a good idea. I might head over there now”.

“Can you wait till Joes awake? Maybe he can help aswell”.

“Ok. Well while we wait would you like some breakfast?”.

“Yeah just hang on.” I pull out the Alpha family tree page again. Looking over the page I spot Ariels name off to the side connected to Alpha Marks name. Under it is mine.

“Hey I am on here!”.
