Mark of a Star

Chapter 1

    I open my eyes slowly and turn off my blaring alarm, I roll over and stay in bed for a minute longer, not wanting to get out, but I know I have to. After a moment, I slowly get out of bed and make my way to the bathroom to get in a quick shower before school. 

    When I'm finished, I get out and make my way over to my closet to pick out an outfit to wear. After a moment I settle on a tank top and a pair of jeans. Simple and easy. I go out of my room and find my dad knocked out on the couch after a long night shift. I swear that man overworks himself so much...I should start looking into getting a job. 

    I check the time and see that I need to leave for school, grab a bar from the kitchen, and head out to go to school. When I walk out of our apartment I put in my earbuds and open my bar as I walk to school. I always enjoy the walk to school, it's always just me and my music, and it's also nice when the seasons change from summer to fall like it is right now. 

    The pack's territory is decently large, and the walk from the living quarter's apartments to my school is short. As I walk up to my school, I can hear the act forest with my wolf senses. I might not have my wolf yet, but my senses are still strong. 

    When I walk into the building, I walk to my locker, still blasting music, and as I'm getting my books out that I need for my class I feel someone tap on my shoulder. Startled, I jump slightly while turning around and see Ash smiling at me as I take out my earbuds. 

    "Hey girl!" Ash says, smiling and happy as always. 

    "Hey, what's up?" I ask. 

    "Ohhh the same old same old, you know how it is haha," she said laughing, "did you hear about the new transfer students?"

    "No, I didn't know we were getting any transfers" that's weird, I didn't hear anything about transfers coming, it's normally big news, although I guess I'm not that surprised because I tend to keep to myself. 

    "Yeah, I guess their pack was attacked by rouges over the weekend, and they destroyed some of the buildings including their high school."

    "Oh gosh that's terrible, do you know how they're settling into the school?"

    "Not sure, but they came in early for an assembly I think" 

    "Oh...I guess I'm really out of the loop then haha" I say as the bell rings. 

    I wave to Ash as we walk our separate ways to go to our classes. I look around the hall and don't notice any new faces, I guess the assembly hasn't been let out yet. I get into my English class and notice that there have been some seats added. I take my seat and continue to listen to music until the bell rings that indicates the class is starting. 

    After a moment, there is a beep and after a moment we can hear the voice of our principal, "Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend. As some of you already know, we have some new students from the neighboring pack joining our school. Their pack was attacked by rouges, and they destroyed their high school and also some other buildings. Thankfully there were little to no fatalities, and we are helping their pack to rebuild. I would like everyone to give our new students a warm welcome, they will be joining your classes soon."

    Well, this is going to be quite interesting, I think as the door opens and a small group of new students walk in. My eyes immediately go to the tallest boy, and I felt this draw, but I immediately looked back down at my work. I could feel his gaze on me, as he walked to a seat, but I continued to look down at my work. 

    All throughout the class, I could feel his gaze on me, but I just kept my eyes forward. When the class ended, I looked straightforward and rushed out of the class as quickly as I could. I could feel him behind me, but I just kept moving forward and got lost in the crowd and I knew I lost him by the time I got to my next class. 

    All throughout the day, all I could think of was that boy, I felt like we were magnets attracted to one another, and I could tell that he felt the same, at least it seemed like that.
