THE INTRODUCTION

"Have you found her yet” asked the impatient Azuriel “No sir” he’s voice, shaky “She is nowhere to be found.” Azuriel couldn’t take no for an answer. He got closer to the guard who had replied to him, grabbed him by the neck using his bare hands and ripped it from his body. The body fell, spilling out blood and Azuriel's white shirt was stained with nothing but blood, his eyes were red with anger and frustration. His men were filled with fright and terror at that sight. They shook and trembled and didn’t move an inch to avoid being the next victim. “Find her, now” he yelled, and the rest of the men trooped out of the huge living room in their numbers with only him and the dead body alone. He suddenly cooled down and threw his head aside. He sat on the couch and fury still burning within him as he stared into the ceiling. “Azul” a female voice called out. He turned to see a woman in a seriously sexy outfit standing on the steps to the passage. “Leila”, he answered with a hint of surprise? “How long have you been here?” “Almost an hour and thirty-two minutes” she replied. She looked at him and then at the dead body lying on the floor and rolled her eyes and sighed. “Brother, you didn’t have to kill the man, though” she commented. “It was that i***t's fault that the woman escaped. She could have been the one” he yelled in anger. “Whoa chill, don’t take it out on me” she thundered back. “I am sorry, but this could be an opportunity for us to rule” he said without faltering. Leila noticed the burning desire in his eyes. She had never seen him in that way, and she thought it was exhilarating and frightening. “My sources tell me that the witches infiltrated the prison”, she confided. Azuriel’s eyes widened at the realization he stood up and broke the glass vase on top of the table in the middle of the large living room. “Does damn witches I want them dead and gone” he screamed, his voice echoing through the living room. “So what are you going to do about it?” Azuriel turned sharply towards her, his face full of frustration and anger. “I mean getting angry will get you nowhere, and you can’t expect to stay quiet” she began to seductively touch Azuriel, who hadn’t calmed down. “You are one of the five lords who may one day succeed the fallen angel himself. What do you think your subjects will say?” On hearing this, Azuriel calmed down and Leila smiled, knowing she had achieved her objectives. She moved until she stood in front of him. Azuriel admired the difference between them. “So what do we do now?” asked Azuriel in a calm tone. Leila began to move closer to him. She opened up his buttons slowly and ripped the shirt to shreds. Azuriel reached down to kiss her, but she backed away with a mischievous smile, leaving Azuriel perplexed. “I have sent some of our men to capture any witch they find or there is another option” she hinted. “What is that?” he asked rather impatiently. She came close to his ears and whispered something, making Azuriel's eyes open, and a mischievous smile could form around his lips. “So what do you say” he looked at him, already expecting an answer “When do we get started?” *********************** Donna walked quickly along the long way towards the staircase that led to the living room. As she got there, a group of women all in their mid-thirties except one who resembled that of a living corpse. They sat down in a circle on the floor. Candles with apotropaic marks that resembled a star lay drawn on the ground. The women were conducting a ritual as they hummed an ominous song that would scare even an adult. Donna stepped in the middle of the circle; her face decorated with red paint and in between her hands a lit red candle which melted and caused serious irritation, but she wasn’t bothered. “Did you succeed in your mission my child?” asked the oldest woman. “No great mother, she escaped before we could get our hands on her” she replied with hesitation in her voice. The other women began to murmur among themselves, then one of them spoke up. “You were given orders to kill the paidi touThanatos, and you failed. Do you have any idea the consequences of your actions”? She spoke harshly. Donna had to gulp and swallow. She had been in this coven for years and had not failed a single mission except this one. “This is going to bring war on our clan” another woman spoke up. “Now, now sisters”, the oldest of them called as they looked at her eagerly awaiting her verdict. “Donna here has not failed any missions except this one. You can’t expect to fight a battle that she wasn’t fully prepared for can you now?” Everywhere fell silent, the women murmuring again and suddenly began to nod in agreement. Donna was relieved they had finally pardoned her, but she knew the threat was far from over. “We would pardon you because of your past achievements, my dear, but if you must continue with the mission you must come up with a good plan and the first step is to find the whereabouts of the missing girl” Donna knew the truth. The killing would have been easy for her. She had done that for the coven for years without fail, but finding another story where she would start well, that was a question she would have to figure out on her own. ********************* Aurora awoke to find herself lying on top of a sofa. Feeling dizzy, she steadied herself and sat up on the couch and looked at her surroundings, wondering how she got there in the first place . It began to come back to her slowly and yet painfully she stood up and tried to run her legs, carrying her weightless body as she felt she could almost fly. She reached for the door and tried to open it, but it was sealed shut. She kept shaking the door, but she wouldn’t open. “And where do you think you’re going” a masculine voice asked from behind the room. She turned around slowly realizing that she wasn’t alone. “What do you want from me” she asked, not knowing how to react to the situation she was in. “Nothing, my dear”, the figure stood from behind the desk in the room and began to move. She felt her heart race and her feet began to tremble. “It’s just that there are so many questions I would love to ask you” the voice kept talking until he’s face could be seen. Aurora’s eyes widened in realization and her face turned red with anger. “You,” she fired in anger, “Me?” he questioned jokingly with his right palm placed around his chest as he laughed mirthfully. “So you do remember me?” “Oh nothing much, just some answers to some questions I have. That’s all” “What questions” she asked, feeling rather impatient. “Well, for example, you have demons coming after you and you have witches coming after your life, so my question is why?” She suddenly burst out laughing, leaving Damon utterly amused. “You must be delusional, demons do not exist” she said after finally catching her breath. “Give me your hand”, he said, raising his palm towards her. She looked at him definitely confused at the gesture. “For what” “To prove that demons do exist” he said, smiling. He looked at her face and saw hesitation written all over it. “You know what, let’s make a bet. If demons didn’t exist, I would let you go, but if they did, would you live with me and answer all my questions and do anything I ask to understand the rest of your life to be understood?” Aurora couldn’t believe her ears, but she stood her ground and finally agreed. Before she could take hold of his palm, she saw herself falling from the sky at an incredible speed. She began to scream and cry “Help me somebody” she yelled “Somebody help you?” he questioned. She turned to her right and saw the man in gray in a sitting position as they both kept falling from the sky. He seemed to be the torment he was inflicting on her. “You do realize that people don’t live in the sky, right?” he questioned again with a cynical smile plastered across his face. “Why don’t we go somewhere hot because it seems like the air is killing you?” He grabbed her hand, and suddenly they were in a hot, scorching desert. Aurora struggled to walk as the dunes made it hard for her to climb. She used her hand to protect her eyes as she gazed at the blistering sun which showed no mercy to all those who walked her land. “Had enough yet?” he asked again. Aurora turned around to find him floating. His feet not touching the ground as he approached her. “What do you want from me?” she screamed. “Nothing much just for you to comply with my terms, that’s all.” Aurora felt the world she knew collapse in front of her, she couldn’t make sense of what was happening. A man flying, being teleported from place to places she hadn’t seen before; she thought she was going to lose her mind. “I can see you haven’t reached a decision yet” he commented, floating closer toward her. “Why don’t I help you make a decision”, he smiled wickedly. A peered at him with concern, afraid of what he might do next. She watched as he raised his right-hand and pressed his thumb and middle finger together, and then he snapped it together and they both vanished from the desert. Aurora saw herself in a dark open space with no lights. She looked around and saw nobody with her. “Hello” is anybody there” she called out and nobody answered. She began to look for the man who had brought her here. “Mister” she yelled, but the only sound she could hear was the sound of her own voice echoing in the darkness. She walked a few kilometers and began to feel someone was watching her. She hugged herself, rubbing her elbows as she walked slowly through the emptiness that surrounded her. “Somebody help, please help” she yelled, almost at the brink of tears. A sound like that of a man could be heard. It laughed hard and long in a very eerie way. Aurora held her ears to prevent them from hearing those sounds, but it seemed inevitable. “Please, I’ll do what you want. Just make it stop” she yelled. Aurora opened her eyes and found herself in the room once again. She felt her legs wobble and quake, and she shortly fell to the floor, her strength leaving her body and her right palm placed above her chest to calm her beating heart. ‘What just happened’ her thoughts searched but couldn’t find an answer to her unending questions. “I’m glad you decided to take on my offer” he edged closer towards her as she lay plastered on the floor, her body couldn’t move because of freight that she had experienced that cannot be done by a mere human. ‘Do demons Exist?’, her mind wavered again, still searching for answers but not finding none. The man in gray had already crouched down, their faces meeting as their eyes locked. “Let me introduce myself then” he said, taking a long deep breath “My name is Damon and are you?”.
