Adah’s scream echoed in the darkness.
Her breathing became heavy as she struggled to see anything. The power outage had swallowed the entire house.
“Who’s there?!” she shouted again.
Silence.
Then—
Footsteps.
Slow. Careful. Coming from inside her room.
Her heart nearly stopped.
“That’s not possible…” she whispered. She hadn’t heard anyone enter.
Her hands fumbled across the bed until she found her phone. With shaking fingers, she turned on the flashlight.
The light cut through the darkness.
Empty.
Nothing.
No one.
She let out a shaky breath.
“Maybe I’m just imagining—”
Tap.
She froze.
The sound came from behind her.
Slowly… very slowly… Adah turned.
Her mirror.
The flashlight beam landed on it.
At first, she saw only her reflection—wide eyes, pale face, trembling lips.
Then—
Something moved.
Behind her.
Inside the mirror.
Adah spun around instantly.
Nothing.
She turned back to the mirror.
Now her reflection was… wrong.
It wasn’t copying her.
It was smiling.
Adah staggered backward. “No… no… no…”
Her reflection lifted a finger—
—and pointed at the door.
Suddenly, a loud BANG shook the entire house.
The front door.
Someone was trying to break in.
Her phone buzzed again.
Another message.
“Too late, Adah. They’re already inside.”
The footsteps returned.
This time… closer.
Right behind her.
A cold breath brushed her ear.
“We found you.”
Adah dropped the phone and ran.
