8 Aprils POV/ Cassie’s POV

April’s POV

I am awoken by the sound of someone slamming drawers. When I looked over, I saw Colton looking inside my dresser drawers and throwing all of my clothes on to the floor. I sat up in bed and asked him “What are you looking for?” He looked over his shoulder at me and then back to the drawers,and said "you’re birth control pills." I got up from the bed and walked over to the clothes on the floor and started picking them up.

I asked him “why are you looking for my pills?” and he said “so I can throw them out. You don’t need them anymore” and started to walk towards the bathroom.

I looked at him as he walked away and said “Yes I do” as I followed him. He turned around and said “no you don’t, you can’t get pregnant if your on the pill”.

I stood there in shock. He started to go through the cabinets and drawers in the bathroom when I snapped out of my daze and sprang forward to grab my pills but he got them before I could.

I tried to grab them from him but he swatted my hands away and started to drop them in the toilet. I tried again to grab what was left but he pushed me away and I landed on the floor on my butt. I got back up but by the time I got to where he was, he had already flushed them.

I got up and glared at him and said “ I am not ready to get pregnant yet.”

He looked at me and said “that is too bad because we will be trying to get pregnant from now on”. Again, I tried telling him I was too young to have a baby and I was not ready.” he just continued to walk to the kitchen.

He turned around and said “I wasn’t kidding last night when I said I wanted to have a baby. I know you want kids and what better time to start than now.” I just shook my head and said, “don’t you think we need to talk about this first? He just looked at me and said “no”. When I tried to say something else, he walked up to me and grabbed my arm hard enough that it would leave a bruise and said “this is not up for discussion”and let me go and walked out the front door.

I went back to the bedroom and got dressed and sat on the bed with my hands on my head. I decided that I would have to get my birth control pills and hide them. So I got up, grabbed my wallet and left to go to the pharmacy.

I walked into the pharmacy and went straight back to the desk to pick up my prescription for my birth control pills. Linda, the pharmacist, was back there and greeted me with a smile and asked “ what can I get for you April.” I smiled back at her and told her I needed my prescription for birth control. After a few minutes, she came back with some papers and said," I’m sorry April, but that prescription has been canceled. You need to contact your doctor to have her send a new one. I didn’t know why my prescription was canceled. I was about to call my doctor, but then I remembered my current doctor, Dr. Smith was Colton’s cousin so I can only assume he had her cancel it.

I couldn’t go see another doctor because I couldn’t pay the bill without Colton knowing and then I remembered I had Cassie‘s number. As I was walking back to the apartment,I was trying to decide if calling her and seeing if she could get a prescription for me was a good idea or not. I really didn’t have any other options, so I decided to go ahead and call.

Cassie’s POV

I was just heading out my door when my phone rang with an unknown number. I picked up the call and I instantly recognized the voice. It was April.

I said, “April, it’s so good to hear from you.”She asked me to meet her at a coffee shop. I said OK and started walking there. When I walked in, I scanned the area for April and found her sitting in a booth in the back corner of the coffee shop. I started walking over and called her name and she instantly stood up and gave me a hug.

She asked “ How have you been? We didn’t get to talk much yesterday. When I saw you, I was running late.” I told her “ I have been good. I am working at Uncle's shipping company in the financial department. What have you been doing since I last saw you?”

She looked down at her hands and said “ I have been doing the accounting for Colton’s gym. We live in an apartment above the gym so it saves us rent.” I said “I didn’t know he owned a gym” and she went on telling me how his uncle gave it to him right before she left school and he retired in Florida.

We talked for about an hour before she said she had a favor to ask. I grabbed her hand and squeezed it and told her “You know I will help you with anything. What do you need?”

She told me about the argument her and Colton had about having a baby and said he got rid of her birth control pill's and asked if I could get her some. I asked her “why can’t you just go to the pharmacy and get them”and she explained that the prescription had been canceled by her doctor, and that her doctor was Colton’s cousin, so she couldn’t go to her to get more. I told her to just go to a different doctor, but she said she didn’t have the money to pay the bill. I told her I would see what I could do. I asked her for the name of her prescription and she wrote it down for me. It didn’t go unnoticed that she was looking around the shop a lot like she was looking for someone. We talked for another hour before she said she needed to go. I told her to call me if she needed anything and I gave her a hug goodbye, agreeing to meet back here tomorrow at noon. As I was walking to work, I thought of calling Tylor. He seems to have a lot of connections, so maybe he might know someone who could help April. I dialed his number and he answered after 2 rings. I told him I needed his help with something and he told me to come to the gym after I got done with work. I thanked him and hung up.

All day I couldn’t concentrate on my work, so I decided at lunch that I would just leave work early and go to meet Tylor.

As I walked into the gym, one of Tylor’s friends (Richie) saw me and motioned for me to come over. I walked over and sat on the bench next to him and watched as Tylor was in the ring with another fighter.

Richie nudged my shoulder and asked “ what brings you down here”. I smiled at him and said “ I needed help with something and I wanted to see if Tylor could help me”. He slung his arm around me and said “ I am willing to help you with anything. What do you need?” And wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at me. I laughed and said “ I am good in that department, but if I need help in the future, I will let you know”.

Just then, a towel landed on Richie's face and Tylor walked over and said “ get your arm off my cousin or I will break it”. I just rolled my eyes and stood up and said “I am a big girl. I can take care of myself.”

Tylor smiled at me and when to give me a hug. I stepped away from him, raised my hands and said “You're all sweaty, go take a shower before you touch me.” He got a cocky smile on his face and launched himself at me and I yelped and tried to dodge him but he caught me before I could get away. He lifted me up and started to rub his sweaty head against my face. I was hitting him on his chest trying to get away. He finally put me down and said “I will be right back” and walked to the showers.

After he came out, we were sitting in the rec room. He leaned back on the couch and asked “ so what do you need help with?”

I let out a breath and turned to look at him and said “Do you remember my friend April we met the other day? He nodded yes. I started to tell him what was going on and, when I was done, leaned forward and put his head in his hands. A few a few seconds, he said “ I do know a doctor that she can see to get a prescription, but that is just the beginning. She needs to leave him. If he is at this point of controlling her, what is stopping him from hurting her physically if he finds out she got them from somewhere else.” I looked down at my hands and said “I think he is already at that point. I didn’t say anything to her, but I did notice some bruising on her arm. You could see the outline of fingers.” When I looked back up at him I couldn’t hold in the tears that slipped from my eyes. He reached over and pulled me to him and hugged me while I cried in his chest. After a few minutes, he pulled away and said “I will give my friend a call to set her up an appointment but you have to promise me that you will talk to her about leaving, but I don’t want you to get too involved. Colton always had a short temper and if he finds out your helping her I don’t want you to get hurt.” I flung my arms around him and whispered “thank you, thank you so much.” He said he will let me know later today what time and day the appointment is.

Now I just have to meet April tomorrow and let her know.
