Darrio paused to take in the summer view across the Zwullfr. Rolling alpine plains swept down to a cluster of small, turquoise lakes that dotted the landscape like a deer’s spotted coat. The crystal-clear water reflected the fluffy clouds that broke up the blue sky.
He had been running all morning and was exhausted. There was one more jagged ridge to navigate before he came upon the furthest edge of the Wulhor-Aaen boundary. He filled his lungs and pushed on. He couldn’t wait to see his pups after many moons away.
