Chapter 12 Derek’s lawyer drew up the partnership papers, which Joe and Derek signed when they visited the man’s office late Tuesday morning. The one thing Joe insisted on was that the name of the firm would remain Clarke Investigations. “There’s no sense in tempting fate,” he told Derek, even though he was certain he had nothing to fear—at least in his conscious thoughts. Subconsciously was a different story. He began having nightmares again. He knew why they’d reappeared. His name and whereabouts were now out in the public domain.
