Grace
The moon hangs low over the stronghold, casting silver light across the stone courtyard where the coronation stage is being built. I stand at the edge of the balcony, my fingers curled around the railing, watching the workers move like shadows below. The scent of pine and fire drifts on the wind, mingling with the distant hum of celebration.
But I feel none of it.
Not yet.
I don’t have time to get excited. There’s so much going on that I can barely keep up with it all. First Dennis and now this new girl turning up. It’s too suspicious for me or Killian to get our heads around. I allowed Killian to let the girl stay because I know my mate is not a fool. Keep your friend close and your enemies closer. Or so the saying goes.
