Jeremy had a feeling he knew exactly what had happened to Sloane’s grandmother, but he knew better than to ask. Or at least, he wanted to make sure they were far, far away from Walker territory before he gave voice to the suspicion that was preying on his mind.
Sloane seemed calm enough as she climbed into the charter jet and glanced around. Too calm, probably. He couldn’t read her mind, of course, but he got the impression of someone trying their hardest to hold it together because the alternative just wasn’t realistic right then.
