By the time Jeremy got off the phone, Sloane was already being assailed by doubts. She’d jumped into this feet first, just like she usually did, but now she couldn’t help wondering if she’d bitten off way more than she could chew. True, she’d held the hope in her heart for years that she might someday be able to track down her biological mother, even while admitting to herself that she probably would never be able to see that dream become a reality.
