Mr. and Mrs. Birdsong sat in the garden sipping tea on the side of their mansion when a cab pulled into the driveway. Billie stepped out with her luggage, paid the driver and approached her parents with tear‑filled eyes. She knelt in front of her mother, sobbing, "You guys are the only family I have. I have nowhere else to go."
Her parents exchanged quick glances and said, "We've been waiting for this day." They immediately ordered the maids to take her back to her room and prepare a special meal for her. They also apologized, saying that everything they had done was for the benefit of the family.
Once settled, Billie called Sierra and whispered, "The first part of the plan worked—I've got my parents back."
"That was easy. Now it's time to move on to the next plan," Sierra replied on the other side of the phone.
A few hours later Lena returned home from work, surprised to see Billie. She tried to paint Billie as trouble in front of her parents, but Billie burst into tears, insisting she was only there to help the family and that she wasn't trying to fight over Alex. Lena relaxed for a moment, though she sensed something off.
Later that night, Lena was in her room laughing at a dumb joke on her phone when Billie knocked.
"Who's there?" Lena asked.
"It's me," Billie replied.
"Come in," Lena said, adjusting herself on the bed.
Billie walked in and sat on the couch opposite the bed, eyes scanning the room. Noticing Lena's stare, she said, "Your room looks different now—hold on, you no longer keep teddy bears?"
Lena smiled, "Those things are childish, especially now that I'm marrying the son of the wealthiest man in this country." She stood up and walked towards the mirror admiring herself, then turned to Billie, "Alex is so kind and loving; he showers me with so much affection." She gave a mocking grin.
Billie kept her face calm, but anger boiled inside her. She rose, walked over to Lena, who was applying cream to her face, and said, "It's obvious you love Alex, and I don't want you to feel bad, so I'll leave him for you."
Lena snapped, "Oh no, Billie, you don't call the shots here—I do, and I'll decide who Alex will be with." She stared straight into Billie's eyes.
Billie's gaze softened, "You're my sister, the only one I have. I don't want anything to come between us." She then pulled Lena into a hug. Lena hesitated at first but eventually hugged her back, whispering, "As long as you don't get in my way."
After the conversation, Billie retreated to her room. Lena, however, stayed up all night, wondering why Billie would give up Alex so easily.
"She's always been weak, but now she's even more useless... I'll make her my puppet," Lena thought, smiling as she drifted into a deep sleep.
Billie on the other hand couldn’t stop smiling when she got to her room she called her best friend immediately
“What happened Billie” sierra asked on the other end of the phone
“I think she fell for it” Billie said, her voice barely a whisper
“That’s a good start, but don’t you think you should come back home and strike from here? Your safety is not guaranteed in that house Billie” sierra said expressing a bit of fear and concern
“Remember they are my family, I know them better than anyone else—I’ll be fine Sierra”
After that conversation Billie fell on the couch, her gaze locked on her window, where stars flickered peacefully
Within few minutes she slept off.
