Taking advice

The morning arrived at the Doiltean clan’s territory. The sun raised between the hills, bathing on his light to the clan land. As if it were a sign, everybody on the clan woke up. The mother omegas were the first ones to get out the tents, going to bathe themselves to the river near the lair, hurrying up because their cubes could wake up eventually.

Omegas were so diligent, since they would usually hunt the food for their cubs, from fishing to even get little creatures as rat of camp or raccoons. On the other side, betas were more to hunt big animals such as deer. The organization of the Doiltean clan was very efficient and balanced, but not was the royal family.

Ursula was waking up on her bed, barely feeling the warmth of the sun entering by the tent’s windows. There were, of course, closed by a heavy cloth, that made the rest of the tent being in almost complete darkness. Was for the better, she had actually nothing to be glad of a new morning.

After a few moments, she was already dressed, going to his son’s place. Everything she knew about last night was that Alex went out with a troupe for a surprise attack to the enemy clan. She, of course, was not worried about that. Ursula could be a bitter and dry person, but after all, she had a blind faith on her clan, and believed that they have the strongest warriors of all. However, what made her worry about the end of the mission was that the troupe came back in the middle of the night, in silence.

There were no victory cheers, or songs. Everything were in silence, and that was pretty suspicious. She did not went out to receive the warriors, even when she is the Luna of the clan, she felt that something was happening right now, but she preferred to investigate calmly. And now was a better time to investigate.

Alex was sleeping at his tent, a very big tent that was exquisitely decorated into an Arabian style, just as all the clan itself were. Ursula went inside the tent without an invitation, watching at first sight his son sleeping, surrounded for different omegas and one or another male. Ursula was not surprised after all.

“May I ask to your guests to leave? Is not polite from them to stay and listen a familiar discussion”, Ursula’s voice woke them all up. Some of them had still modesty enough to hurry for getting clothed and leave since they saw their Luna in there. Others only got up in silence and went with their clothes outside, without saying even a “hello”.

“Ursula”, Alex saluted her. “What’s going on? Is not polite from you to interrupt your son’s sleep”.

The Luna did not say anything to him, at least not until he was already sitting on his bed, which was composed by many pillows and blankets.

“So, what happened last night?”

“What are you talking about?”

“Of the attack, of course. You said ‘we will end up the enemies; there will nothing left of the Cleites. So, let me know, how did it went?”

Alex then remained in silence. Yes, the attack was a total failure, and Ursula must not know about that. But she was very intelligent, and she will notice sooner or later.

“We didn’t, okay? The attack was a failure”, Alex said, upset about having to reveal his own failure.

“It does surprise me”, Ursula said shortly after Alex spoke. “Alexander, I am afraid that you are not taking your place as the Alpha seriously”.

“Do you say that because I failed one battle?” Alex was not pleased of hearing his mother talk like that, and his frown revealed that feeling.

“No, it is because you act like a child. Yes, you knew that the Cleite clan was having a passing ceremony last night, but a good surprise attack depends more on the planning of it that acting and merely coinciding with a victory. Also, your father is every day sicker. You are the Alpha now, but you still have not chosen your mate”.

“Heh, you talking about responsibilities and mates”, Alex could not help but laughing at her. “Should I remind who cucked my father first? And who was pregnant every single year from my five to fifteen years old?”

“At least you can say who were my children and your half-siblings. Not like your father, who did not even had the courage to recognize his”. Ursula, as always, was calm while saying that. She was also a great Luna and leader, so capable that she was reigning the clan on the shadows, since as she said, Alex was not having a true vision of his responsibilities.

“But who had the fault that he started to seduce stupid women who got pregnant of him?”

“Then, because of who I had to seek for lovers who gave me the love that Robert didn’t?” Ursula said, still calm, even when that sentence was very hurtful for her. “Can you see now how stupid is blame the others for your actions? I made mistakes, but Robert took those and made them an excuse for being a filthy man”.

Alex was about say anything else, but seeing that the conversation could go in a never-ending way, he stopped.

“Now”, Ursula went on, “tell me how did your plan failed. Maybe we could learn from your error and make it better the next time. Is important to know how to improve by learning from the failure”.

To be sincere, Alex did not wanted to talk about it, less with her. He went silence for a while, and seeing that she could not have any information from him, she spoke.

“Well, if you do not want to say nothing, is okay. Keep your failures for you, but at least learn about it…”

“Ursula”, suddenly Alex interrupted her, “something happened last night”.

The blonde woman turn to saw him, surprised that he would actually talk.

“Maybe I am just going crazy, but I found another werewolf, if I am correct is the heir of the Cleite. And, he… he smell like an omega in heat”.

“What are you talking about?” Ursula asked, confused by the words of his son, but he kept explaining.

“Yes, he had that smell, and… I could not resist, I almost abused of him, but his warriors came suddenly, that I had to interrupt myself and flee”.

“So that is the reason behind the failure of the attack”.

Ursula approached to his son, who for the first time received her with authentic interest of having her to advice.

“It was really strange, I felt weird myself and… it is hard to explain. Especially because I was sexually attracted to my enemy. I swear to the gods that if he would not release that damned scent, I would have killed him immediately”.

“And are you sure that it was a ‘he’ instead a ‘her’? What if Heinrich had a girl instead of a son and has make her pass as a male all this whole time…?” that would make sense, but there was a little problem with that theory.

“I saw him naked. He was indeed a male. But this smell, oh gods, I never felt it from a man” Alex was still confused, and remembering the incident make him shiver. And even when the blonde Luna tried to get an explanation for it, she could not.

“Shall we consult with the magicaster?” was that the better solution. Usually, the magicaster has knowledge on medicine, magic and of course, biology. So, if the magicaster did not know what was happening with the heir of the Cleite, it was nothing to do to decipher it. “We are going to see the magicaster after breakfast. So, you better take a bath and get dressed. I will see you at my tent in ten minutes”.

“Of course. Oh, and also… how is my father?” Alex asked to her, who turn to see him again, before she walked away.

“He is bad, as usual. But today he woke up calm. Maybe he could survive another month if he keep going like this”.

Just like that, Alexander obeyed. Even when he had barely a little respect for her because of her adultery, he was aware of how intelligent was his mother. Most because was her who was the “true Alpha” after Robert. Now, before going to take breakfast, he went to his father’s place to see how he was.

“Father”, Alex said, once he even had one foot inside the tent, “it’s me, Alexander”. He did not received any answer. He then walked inside, going to Robert’s bed. “I see you are well, at least you still breathing. Just rest, a maiden will come soon to give your breakfast. I must go”. Alex then kissed his father’s forehead, as the old Alpha was still sleeping. He did not wanted to disturb him, so in silence he left, just as he came.
