Ellie I was able to breathe better when we already arrived in London. I still feel so tired, but the meeting is just in a few hours and we need to prepare everything. The meeting should run smoothly and of course, it should be successful. Parker worked hard for this deal, and the least that we would want is to go home with nothing. Once we arrived in our hotel room. It was a suite but has two bedrooms in it. I went to my room and rested. Then, I took a bath and wore my corporate suit. Wearing suits give me confidence that I will surely be needing later. I also believe that people will respect you if you dress properly. I went out of my room and I saw Parker at the dining table reading a newspaper. Breakfast was already on the table. He felt my presence and lifted his head from reading the newspaper. “Good morning,” he greeted. I smiled at him. I sat down in front of him and started eating breakfast. I need all the energy that I can get for today. Today’s going to be a long day. I looked at the sight of our dining room. I could see all the tall buildings in the city. It’s so beautiful to see. The meeting will be held in this hotel. We went down to the lobby around 10 AM. When we were gathered together with Mr. Carter and his assistant, the meeting started. I have never felt so nervous my whole life. Parker seemed to handle everything well, however, I think the meeting is too dry. Parker is very good at handling finances and corporate planning but looking at Mr. Carter’s face all throughout the meeting, he seemed uninterested and unimpressed. It also feels like Parker and Mr. Carter doesn’t have a connection too. I tried catching Parker’s attention, but he doesn’t even stop to look at me. Shit. I think I might need to do this myself. I breathed a deep breath. “Mr. Carter,” I said. “I was wondering which property would you suggest for the joint venture?” I asked.  I feel so nervous, but good thing I was able to ask it without stuttering. I saw Parker’s eyes and it was questioning me by the looks of it. “Ms. Brown, this isn’t the right time—” “Please,” Mr. Carter waved Parker off. “I don’t mind. By the way, just call me Christopher,” he said. I nodded. He leaned on his seat. “Actually, I was thinking of a property in Germany or here in London,” he said. Both countries are beautiful. We can actually visit the property here in London after the meeting. “I see. Can we go and see the one located here in London? I asked. “Ms. Brown--,” Parker warned. “That sounds good. It will not be a problem,” he said and then looked at Parker. “I’ll call the property owner so he can meet us there,” he said and stood up from his chair. When we were heading back at the lobby, Mr. Carter took a halt and talked to his secretary. While they were talking, Parker held my arm and pulled me aside. “What the hell are you even doing?” he whispered to me so that Carter can’t hear. I looked at Carter first to make sure that he’s not looking. “Sir, we need to distract him,” I said. “Are you out of your mind?” he said. “You already told him about your plan and the deal before and you convinced him. But, you chose to partner with another company. He might be thinking why you’re here convincing him again when in fact you have dealt with another more impressive deal compared to his company,” I explained. “Our company’s reputation is enough to seal this deal,” he said. How can this person be so brilliant but dense at the same time? “Your strategies are excellent, but in this situation, you need to set that aside and look more into it,” I said. I saw him frown at what I said, but that means I got his attention to what I am talking about. “You said I do personal relationships with everyone, right? Then trust me on this. We need to get his trust back,” I said. Parker looked at me as if he’s examining what’s inside my mind. Then he looked at Carter’s direction. “When we get to the location, don’t mention anything about the deal. Connect with him on a different level,” I said. I felt his grip tightened more. “I know how to talk and do business with businesspeople,” he said. “I know,” I said. I stepped away a little bit, feeling awkward. Parker It’s hard to admit that Ellie is right. And I hate to admit more that it is a good thing. If this deal went to flames earlier because of what she said to Mr. Carter, I might really fire her, even if Grandma would get mad. I don’t like this situation. I’m used to being the one who gets to be convinced, not the one who convinces someone. I don’t like to be kept waiting. I think I might be taking everything too fast. Well, can’t blame me. I want this deal to be sealed and have it over with before the anniversary party. We’re not at the prospect location for the planned store. I kept my mind open for possibilities as we toured around the space. The location is a bit small compared to other prospected locations, but this location is already perfect for it. I followed Ellie’s advice to not mention anything about the deal, so we talked about possible constructions that would be made if Carter accepts the offer. When the location tour was over, I was able to decide. “Thank you so much for your time, Christopher,” I said, shaking his hand. “Things happen for a reason. I know you’re hesitant about going forward with our deal, but I do hope deeply that you will decide in our favor. I could learn a lot from you,” I said. “Hmm,” Carter said, nodding his head. He then turned to Ellie. “Beautiful lady, I am confused. Earlier in the meeting, he was cold and very calculating. Now, he comes alive, expressive, and shows so much passion and heart. Which man is true in both of them?” he asked. Ellie smiled. “He’s serious with business. He is the heart of the company,” she said. “Loyal, I see. You’re lucky enough boy, that someone believes in you so strongly,” he commented. “Yes,” I answered shortly. “I have much to think and reconsider. My assistant will call you on what time we can meet tomorrow,” Carter said and walked to his car. “We’ll be waiting for your call,” I said.
