A smile formed on the boy’s face, as he stared down at me, and just when he was about to agree to take me home, Chance let out a growl that sounded like the low growl I had heard after school during the commotion with his brother. The smile that had formed on the boy’s face quickly dissipated and in its place was the look of fear, as his eyes moved from mine to Chance’s. “Sorry, I can’t give you a ride home.” Is all the boy said, before he took off, not giving me a second look.
