I began to notice the sparkling jawline in the sunlight’s beam which glimmered his sharp jawline. Everyone around me were excited and welcomed him with a smiling face. My eyes wished to see him more but my mind warned me not to have any expectations. As expectations always gave me a hard time and it doesn’t give you what you wish. When reality strikes hard it lets to understand that we are a fool to have useless expectations in our mind.  

I rubbed off the pleasure from my mind and tried to distract myself. Miss. Janet told the new handsome boy to sit in the empty place where he wishes to sit, as there were three empty seats were available for him to sit. And he walked towards the empty seats and glared at the empty seats to decide a perfect place for the next one academic year. I was sitting next to the window at the third row. Though there was an empty seat next me I wished him not to sit there, so I did not look at him when he walked towards the empty seat. I calmed my mind by looking at the squirrel which was running in the branches of the trees and I adored the warm breeze with the sunlight which gave me a peace of mind and took away all my pains temporarily. 

I did not want to listen to the happy voices of my classmates who called the new handsome boy to sit next to them. But I was not interested in his choice so I kept myself separated in my dreamy world. Suddenly I heard a different voice which woke me up from my dreamy world “Can I sit here?”. The question puzzled me and I turned and saw him standing next to me. I looked at him shockingly, my mind went blank without any answer. I had no idea and he was waiting for my answer. I was unable to answer him and I nodded my head to give the permission which he wanted from me. He smiled and sat in the empty seat next to mine.  

I looked around and saw every girl’s angry glaring eye at me, but sadly I was not interested in any of this. So, I did not take their evil glares to my heart. I went back to see the charming scenery outside the window which attracted me heavily and helped me to get lost in thoughts. The class continued with the completion of attendance and Miss. Janet asked every student of the class to introduce themself. And the first girl in the first seat her introduction with her name and the place where she was living and it continued on to the next and next. I was not interested to listen to any of introductions and was waiting for my turn as a lamp waiting for its death through the knife. As such the turn for mine came and I stood to introduce myself for the known classmates and the unknown new classmates.  

“Loner, Aloof, Stupid” the words began to roll on the entire class and the room was filled with laughter. Though my heart pained though my tears were in the brink of my eyes, I controlled well not to give them what they wanted badly. I stood like a stone and said “I’m Lucy. Born and brought up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. My dad is a government employee and my mom is a housewife. I have a younger brother, studying in the same school in the grade eighth”. I heard the voices mocking at me behind my back and my hands were shivering by hearing the low voices. I hold my wrist with my other hand not to show my weakness and sat in my seat without listening to any of the chatters. 

“Hi. I’m Logan. I had my previous schooling in Canada. My family currently is in abroad” he said, the new handsome boy. After hearing his voice, his name Logan it lingered my ears and when I turned to see him, I saw him watching me and introducing him. I felt a panic inside my heart when our eyes met at once, it was a pleasurable moment and can never be forgettable in the lifetime. I loved the way our eyes crossed each other like a wavelength, but I was too afraid of those damn expectations which will always lead me to the hurt. Soon, I turned back to my old self and dared myself not to look at the other side where he was sitting.  

The bell rang and declared the end of the first day’s first period. Before the next teacher arrived, the class began to fill with the noise of the student’s chatters. Everyone went near Logan and tried to befriend him and he smiled at them with a cutest smile which moved every girl’s heart. They also tried to give him chocolates but he rejected everything with his pleasant smile. I envied him, as everyone liked him and everyone hated me. I wished to dump myself in my dreamy world and to stop seeing these acts around me.  

I heard a voice calling my name “Lucy, who is Lucy?”, the Physical Education trainer Mr. Zack. I saw him standing in the middle of the class and calling my name. I stood up and raised my hand to indicate him that “I’m Lucy”. He saw me and told me to visit the principal office. I was puzzled at the sudden invitation from the principal which indicated my mind with the red alarm directly signed the danger zone. I had all various thoughts in my mind and cross checked myself what mistake did I do last year and what will the reason for them to summon me in their office. I was worried and tried to walk behind Mr. Zack without letting anyone to see my worried feel.
