"You're not meeting me for the first time, Mateo," she says, "You should know by now that I'd do whatever it takes to get what I want." I grab her arm, my nails digging into her skin, and she gasps. "Let go of me." I dig deeper as she fidgets, trying to yank her hand out of my grip. "Do you still want me?" I whisper into her ear. "Please stop," she says, her voice pleading, "please." "Do you still want me?" I repeat, and she nods, surprising me. "I still want you." I hate to hurt her, but I want to remind her of the reason she called the engagement off–the physical abuse we put each other through. I want to remind her of how toxic we are together.
