— Jet —
Every fiber in my being was chilled as an ice storm, and every droplet of water on my skin felt like acid rending the flesh from muscle, and tearing apart my spirit from my body. Warmth touched my cheek, and instead of being painful it filled me with a different kind of ache that brought on thoughts of my mate as my c**k hardened begging to claim her.
“Danny,” I spoke her name in a dreamy haze and when I opened my eyes I was pleased to see her straddled against me. Everything outside of her was nonexistent. I didn’t care if I was dreaming, the idea that she was mine, and within reach was invigorating. Strength returned to my limbs, and as I gripped her thighs I felt her skin shooting euphoria through my fingertips as I eased them under the torn cloth. It was in the way, and I had to feel more of her. Ripping the fabric I moved my hands up her thigh and over her butt. I gave it a squeeze before I fished down to where I felt her need slick against my probing digits.
Fuck, she was already wet, and I stroked between her delicate folds teasing around the edges of her c**t and down to sweep past her opening, never actually going in, and never truly touching that sweet bundle of nerves. I wanted her to want me, even in my dreams, I wanted her to beg before I gave her my heart, and the world.
Her hips rocked against my straining c**k, and I growled at the f*****g shorts Ralph had convinced me to change into before we found her. Even in my god damned dreams I was logical about still having them on, and I wished I was lucid enough to have the pesky barrier melt away so I could feel her as she moved atop me.
Danny’s hair clung to her face, soaked with water and her ears peeked out from the auburn strands. She was beautiful, and she was mine.
Mine, I thought. How was this possible?
Then she tried to wriggle free and even in my dreams I couldn’t catch a break. She would reject me even here. I didn’t want to release her just yet.
“If you’re strong enough to hold me here, I think you’re strong enough to get your ass up and run before we’re caught by the Blood Crest’s patrol.” Her voice was breathy and despite her words her thighs clenched, and her butt planted firmly to prevent me from removing my fingers from their ministrations. I grinned at her, and watched as she licked up the blood from our kiss earlier from her lips. My father used to say that when your mate takes your essence into themselves it was a sign they accept your bond, and wish to strengthen it. What I wouldn’t give for this to be real.
Gripping her butt I lifted her a little to release my other hand from beneath her, giving her a final swipe that sent a shiver down her spine. Her reaction to me made my c**k strain, twitching to be inside and being the cause of that hooded look in her sparkling green eyes. As my fingers were free I brought them to my mouth, and licked up her juices before they dried in the chilled air. Now, her essence was inside me as well.
“As you wish,” I teased, now finally taking in my surroundings and the howls in the distance that sounded all too real, and not so dream like any longer. She was right, what ever lust I had for her had to wait. The patrol was much too close, and even though we were on the run from the Blood Crest pack you couldn’t smack the smile from my face that the last few minutes were real.
“We can finish this later,” I promised her. She was so light when I lifted her up by her waist, but that didn’t stop the hiss I made as the action strained my injury. Danny swatted my hands from her and braced my weight against her, even though I was perfectly capable of holding my own. I moved my shoulder up and down to test it, and though it still hurt like the seventh layer of hell flame it was no longer bleeding. And what’s more, I felt my wolf mending the damage. I was healing.
Not as fast as normal, granted, but faster than a human would be capable of.
Ralph’s voice entered my head through a mind-link, “Are you decent?” My mind-link was back, which was a relief.
“They’re too close, why did you stop here?” I demanded of my beta. Danny had her arms wrapped around me, and I leaned on her so I could rub my nose into her hair.
“You were bleeding and making an obvious trail to sniff out. Plus, you should be thanking me. I convinced your mate to have s*x with you.” Ralph sounded proud of himself, if not a little conspiratorial.
I growled, making Danny flinch. That wasn’t my intention, I squeezed her to me making sure she didn’t try to escape again. “Explain yourself.”
“She’s fae, they’ve got crazy magic, and it seems to leak out of them when they have s*x. You’re healed, you bond with your mate. Win-win.”
“You know fae don’t need to have s*x to use magic, all she needed to do was…” Give me some of her essence, I thought still tasting her on my tongue. If I was healing that means when I licked my fingers she accepted me having a piece of her inside me. My wolf brimmed with pride.
Maybe I didn’t have to worry about her rejecting me after all.
“If you’re talking with Ralph, tell him to come back already so we can get out of here,” Danny tugged on me to move, but I didn’t budge. Instead I swept under her knees and felt my whole body hum with her tucked against my chest. My shoulder burned, but I didn’t want to take the chance she would run off and try to divert the patrol herself.
“We’re in this together, and I know where we can go that they won’t follow,” I assured. I’d been to this forest often enough, and now I know why I was always drawn here. I knew before now that this is where my mate would be. Squeezing her to me, I felt more relaxed now trying to escape from pursuers than I had ever felt without her.
“Where would that be? Just because they are wolves doesn’t mean they will stay to their territory, it isn’t like there is some magical barrier that prevents them from leaving their pack grounds,” she scoffed unconvinced, yet she made no attempts to remove herself from my hold as I ran through the forest. I’d let her go if she insisted, but it felt so right to have her close to me.
And f**k, the words were coming out of my mouth before I even thought about them, “When my mom was killed by fae, one of them took me to this portal.” They were just words to me, explaining where we were going, and it was the first time I had ever said that out loud so casually to anyone.
I knew my mistake as soon I stopped myself from continuing to explain why I wasn’t in Faery now, and why I had become a rogue. I had wanted to tell her everything, and her muscles tensed in my arms. Her small fists pushed at my chest, and I stopped to gently place her on the ground to read her expression. Our bond was growing, and I mistook that for acceptance.
Horror filled her eyes, and her mouth gaped open about to say something before it closed again. She shook her head several times, and then finally nodded like she was accepting a decision in her mind.
I braced myself for the pain of having my mate bond rejected.
“Don’t just stand there, take us to the portal,” she said solemnly and turned her back to me to continue in the direction I had been heading. I blinked several times, and wished I knew what she was thinking, but my only fear was that she was not only going to reject me, but leave as far away from me as she could… back to her own world.
