Jake was the tenth person to walk in. He is dressed in a workout attire, which shows off his shoulders and muscles. He walks directly to the chair I am standing beside, making eye contact, before he sat down he slipped a “Morning, Sam” towards me to which I responded in the exact same manner, “Morning, Jake.” He smirked and sat down. Within 20 minutes, the room was full of people of all different backgrounds and looks. It is extremely loud and messy. People are shouting and laughing, a few are arguing off to the side. It is complete chaos. Reminded me of the bar after a victory game, to be honest. This moment weirdly made me feel at home.
Jake finally finished eating his food when he scooted his chair back a little and called me to him. I leaned down to hear what he needed. He did not say a word, instead he wrapped his arm around my waste and pulled me down to sit in his lap. I could feel my face turn red out of embarrassment. I hate PDA. I can't stand it, and I could see all the eyes shifting on and off of us. He didn't seem to care at all as he brushed my stray hairs that fell from my messy bun out of the way.
Jake leaned in towards my neck, holding me still as he brushed his nose from my shoulder to my ear, causing another shiver to go down my entire body. I could feel goosebumps popping up everywhere. 'What is going on?!' I kept repeating to myself. I just kept breathing as calmly as I could, until he took a heavy inhale. 'Did he just smell me?' My mind chased back to when Seth had me against the bed and did the same exact thing. The moment kept replaying in my head like a broken record. I couldn't stop it.
Before I knew it, Jake was kissing the nape of my neck. I could feel my knees go weak even though I was sitting. I leaned my face into the side of his, as if I was enjoying it. Was I? Am I enjoying this, this is the same man who ripped my leg in open the other day. My leg. I looked down while Jake was pre-occupied and like a maniac, subtly smacked my leg right where the stitches were. I pretty much immediately regretted this action but it was the quickest reminder of who this man is to me. I snapped out of this weird trance and cleared my throat.
Jake stopped and leaned back smiling, completely satisfied. He knew I was already starting to feel a pull towards him but he doesn't know that I can already tell I am stronger than it. I just need to have reminders of what has already happened and why I am here. Jake cleared his throat this time, getting the immediate attention of everyone in the room.
“This is Sam, as most of you already figured out, she is my mate and she is human. Though she will never be your Luna, she will stay here to satisfy my every need. With that, if any of you overstep on what is mine, you will be punished by me personally. Now get out, I need a moment alone.”
Everyone scattered within minutes. No one even giving me a second glance. I guess his punishments are not pleasant at all. Jake sat me in the chair next to him, and turned my body to face him. He leaned forward, definitely in my space on purpose, placing his hands on my knees.
“You seem a little distracted Sam.”
“It's just new, that's all.”
“You should smile more, it's more inviting. I am having you work with Gabe today in the gym. You need to get the muscle back in your leg, it's slowing you down, which will inevitably, slow me down. The gym is the building outside to the right. I trust you can make it there on your own, and that you won't cause me any trouble.”
“Yeah, I can do that. Can I ask a question?”
“Of course.”
“I saw what you did to Seth this morning, he seems pretty pissed at me. Gabe is probably pissed too, I don't know that it's the best thing for me to be around him alone.”
“Let me be very clear, don't ever question my commands again. I talked to both Gabe and Seth together, the problem has been dealt with. They can only touch you if you step out of line.”
His stare was piercing straight through me as I just looked away. I couldn't keep eye contact, there were moments where he just made your skin crawl when he spoke. Maybe it was an Alpha thing.
“Sam, what is distracting you?” He smiled super wide. He changed his tone and posture so quick it was hard to keep up.
“What do you mean?” I asked. Puzzled of why he would think I was distracted in the first place.
“Well your leg is bleeding for one.”
I looked down and there it was, blood trailing from the stitch I slapped at earlier. It didn't pop but it was definitely not looking great. I began to panic and grab napkins trying to clean up the mess. But Jake stopped me and forced me to look at him.
“Since you are mine, I will do this one thing for you but don't ever think that if you get hurt, especially by me again, that I will help you. Do you understand?”
“No, not really.”
“You will.”
He then took his right arm, lifted it to his mouth and bit into his wrist. I saw as his canines slightly elongate right before he pierced his skin, causing it to bleed. He then put his wrist in front of my face which made me nearly gag.
“Take some, it'll heal you faster. This way I don't have to wait for you to get around.”
I looked in disgust. I would rather, cut off my leg and be in a chair the rest of my life before drinking some one else's blood. Hell no.
“No thank you, I just can't do that.”
Jake rolls his eyes in annoyance, grabbing the back of my neck, squeezing my pressure points which causes me to cry out. He then shoves his bleeding wrist into my mouth. Tears began to run down my face as he removes his arm and licks his open wounds. I lick the blood from my lips and force myself not to make a face as a reflex. That is disgusting. I mean, I have had to fake my way through taking shots of Tequila without making a face, but this is something else. The metallic taste lingers. I grab a few pieces of leftover toast and orange juice trying to cover the lasting taste of blood in my mouth.
“Don't be such a wimp. I've watched you throw back 6 shots of vodka in one sitting, I doubt this is different.”
Of course it is. It most definitely is, especially when that was by choice. In that moment I realize in horror how long he must have been watching me. I haven't gotten black out drunk in a few months, and that definitely sounds like a black out night.
Noticing the the change in my facial expression, as I come to this realization, Jake stands up telling me that Gabe will be expecting me and left to do who knows what. Straightening up, I realize my knee doesn't hurt nearly as bad as it did earlier. I look down, and realize my leg has stopped bleeding, and that it looks loads better. The bruising was already starting to blend in with my natural skin tone. I guess there is a positive in drinking werewolf blood. But I still never want to experience that again.
I made my way out of the kitchen/dining room, feeling almost like a million bucks. I opened the front door to the house and stepped outside. There it is, that feeling of freedom. Fighting the need to go for a run, I just stood there. Soaking in the sun, I have lived to see another day. Turning to the right, I can immediately tell which building is the gym. It's newer than the other buildings, not huge but definitely newer. I took a few steps walking towards the gym and realized my leg is feeling amazing, and is almost healed. Unfortunately those stitches are going to have to come out soon, but I'll just deal with that later.
