New Role

Walking over to the shower, I hung up a towel that I found on the counter and step through the clear doors. Normally, I would turn the shower on and wait for the water to heat up but I could care less at the moment. Turning the water on, it started off freezing but quickly warmed up. I let my brown hair fall. Pulling twigs from it and find where the soap, shampoo and conditioner are located. I start to slowly wash my body. Looking down every once in a while, to see how brown the water was flowing down the drain. I was more disgusting than I thought. Finally washing my hair, it took forever for me to be able to run my fingers through it. Thank God the hot water has not run out. After I was finally clean, I just stood under the water and let it run over my body. It felt so relaxing on my aching muscles. Facing the shower head I would periodically inhale and just stand directly under the water as if it were a waterfall. For a minute, it was like I could pretend I was somewhere else, somewhere more peaceful. I turn around to just soak my back. Running my fingers back through my hair, I inhale deeply to steady my self, opening my eyes as I exhale. And my moment of peace is of course interrupted. There stood a man in the doorway to the bathroom. I couldn't make out the face passed the fogged up shower doors, which also meant he couldn't see me clearly. I back into the corner of the shower covering my mouth and shutting my eyes trying my best to calm down. Do not cry Sam, pull it together. The distorted figure spoke revealing it was yet again Jake. “It's almost soothing watching you. But you have been in there for over an hour, and unless you want your skin to be pruny forever, I suggest you come out.” I turn the shower off, cracking the shower door open to grab the towel and wrap it around me as tight as I could before stepping out. “Now that's the Sam I recognize. Your clothes are in the drawers in the room.” I look down, barely able to speak, “Thank you.” hoping he would move out of my way and allow me to go grab my clothes, I walk to the doorway where he is standing. But he is not moving. I just continue to look down. I am drenched, my hair dripping water everywhere as it hung over my face. Jake just stands there, almost daring me to look up at him. I see his hand move up to my face, he grabs my chin and lifts my head so I would make eye contact. I watch him as he looks at every part of me that he could, even with the towel covering me. It didn't take long before he slowly grabs my towel, and in slow motion, drops it to the floor. I feel so uncomfortable. Breaking eye contact, I look back at the floor, hugging my naked body. I have no tears left to shed. He began to caress my shoulder, when he touches me, my entire body shivers. I am not sure if it is out of lust, fear or disgust but it is definitely involuntary. Either way, I hate the reaction so I slowly took a step back and look down to the floor again. I could feel him smirking, almost mocking me. He took a step forward and places his hand on my cheek, rubbing it softly. I wince at the pain from my bruised face. Jake stops and removes his hand back off of my face. “I'm assuming that's Seth's doing. Gabe is not one to hit unless it is necessary. I'll talk to him about bruising what's mine. In the meantime, get some sleep. I already set the alarm for 5:30 in the morning. Be ready by 6am.” I didn't say a word or even look up as he not only walks out of the bathroom but also the bedroom. I slowly make my way into the room and slip on a pair of running shorts, sports bra and tank top. At least it's my normal attire. Climbing in the bed, my body felt weak. 'This will be a long process, especially with my busted leg but I have to keep going. Play the part, get out. They think they know me, but they don't. I'm a Survivor. I refuse to quit.' After hyping myself up about what is to come, it was like my body finally released and I passed completely out. I have not slept so hard in -well, ever. I wake up to the alarm BLARING that annoying beeping noise. Tossing my hand to the side of the bed, I slam my hand onto the snooze button before sitting up. Before I forget, I took out another pill for my leg and swallowed it whole. The quicker I get better, the quicker I can get out of here. Hobbling around the room, it took me the entire 30 minutes to get ready. I threw my hair up in a messy bun and put socks and shoes on. I slept in the clothes I am wearing for the day. Making my way to the door of-, I guess I should say 'my' bedroom, I realized I have absolutely no idea what I am supposed to be doing. 'Maybe if I pop my head out, I can ask someone.' As I was reaching for the doorknob, the door swung open, scaring the s**t out of me. It's Seth, what a great way to start the day. He looks exceptionally pissed off today, probably due to the fact that he has a black eye. It looks like it's a few days old, even though it wasn't there the last time I saw him. I shake the memory of the last time I saw him. That memory has not yet made me feel numb, I need to get ahold of myself. Seth just stands there staring at me. “Good morning.” I barely peeped out, not knowing what to do as the tension between us built. He grunted and walked down the hallway. As he makes it to the staircase, he stops and tells me to follow him. He walks slowly down the stairs as I hobble down, one step at a time. I guess he realizes how bad my leg is since he is descending the staircase pretty slowly.  When we walk pass the living room, I realize the same guys were lounging on the couches from the other day when I was carried in by Seth. It's good to note that there are usually five guys in this room all day every day but they are easily distracted by video games. Seth walked me to the kitchen where there were three cooks running around. They introduced themselves as Harry, Ashley and Dave. They run the kitchen all day. Seth left me here to do as I am told and help run breakfast smoothly. He specifically told me I would be doing this every morning and that I am to stand next to Jake during his entire meal so I can get whatever he wants. I am immediately told to set the table. The dining table is huge. It has about 20 chairs down each side of it and only one chair at the head, I assume that is where Jake sits. Since I am not quick on my feet yet, Ashley suggests that I just take my time laying out the dishes, silverware, glasses and the food as people start to arrive. It took a few trips back and forth to finally get everything placed in a decent fashion. Around 7:30am, people start to flood in, so I took my stance beside the head of the table as I was told. I received several looks, some menacing, others seemed like they could care less. I honestly don't know which reaction I preferred.
