Overstep

During the entire meeting, Caleb would glance at me from time to time. There was even a point where he asked Jake if he would consider bargaining me instead. Jake said no but he definitely hesitated before answering. It terrified me that Jake would even have thought of giving me to some creep like Caleb. Caleb, who by the way, has a huge signature scar on his face that screams bad guy, looks like seriously bad news. The scar is a scratch right over his eye as if he belonged in The Lion King. After 20 minutes, the meeting came to an end. Caleb made sure to mention that if I were ever on the table, even if it was for a short visit, he would take the deal. Jake again said no, but with hesitancy yet again. 'Great, I am just now getting used to these people and this house, to where I can actually plan an escape, but now I may have to start completely over somewhere else??' Caleb finally left the office. He smiled at me and told me he would see me later, as if he knew Jake would eventually budge. “You can not allow him to take me like that. Jake, why are you hesitating? That man is disgusting and you think I will just go with him so you can have a dam lake?! I haven't done anything wrong!” I'm screaming at this point, which is my first mistake because Jake reminded me very quickly that I am not in control. My second mistake is standing too close and not running away. He is next to me in the blink of an eye. Gripping my neck and lifting me off the ground, I dangled there while gripping onto his hand, trying to find the oxygen. “Don't forget that you are mine. Your life is mine. I control whether you live or die, and I control what happens to you. We have been here before Sam, or do I need to bring Seth and Gabe in here to teach you a lesson?” All three of them in one room to torment me, no thank you. That is a fight I know I am not winning. Still gasping for air, I stopped fighting and went limp. Maybe if I just stop, he will put me down. And to my surprise, he did. I could feel his claws slide out of my neck, no wonder his grip was that intense. My neck now bleeding, I fell to the ground trying to suck in all the oxygen I could. Once I finally did, I began to silently sob. Darkness just overtaking me. Blocking everything out, I forced myself to feel numb again. I can't lose it in front of them, any of them. Gives them too much power. I stood up, wiping my face and trying to clean the blood from my neck with my shirt. “My apologies, Jake. I overstepped. What should I do now?” “I need you to shut the f*ck up. I'm tired of this game. I can tell you're fighting your old reality to this new one. But nothing is going to change, Sam. This is your life now. If you can't understand that I have no problem chaining you to your bed for a few days. Maybe that will help. Step out of line again, and that will be your punishment. Do not cross me Sam, now go to your room, I'm done with you for today!” I nod my head and rush out the door. Practically running to my room. I took the time to clean up my neck and laid down. I can't leave so I might as well rest. Without trying, I slept through the entire day. I guess I'm not eating either. Out of boredom and curiosity, I decided to check the roof again. Climbing out of the same window I did last time, I snuck to the window of Jake's office. Luckily, he was still in there, back to the window so I could get a good look of what was going on. He seems to be calm now. Maybe it really is just me that ticks him off. Doubtful. Seems like he will be working late so I climbed back over to my room and did my workout before falling asleep.
