I know the girls wanted the guys to be here, but I needed just the close people in my life right now. I need to feel what I feel when I feel it. The girls understood where I was coming from. So I started back in on this box when I came across a letter from my mother I have never seen before. It was stuffed inside this book she used to read when I was a little girl. Why would she put it in there? I had so many questions with no answers in sight. Nothing was making sense with things that have been happening and with finding this letter in a book I haven’t seen in years.
“Look at what I found in this book. That I haven’t seen in years.” Scarlett announced to her friends
“What did you find Scarlett?” Leah asked with excitement.
“Scarlett isn’t that the book that your mother used to read to us when we were little?” Brooklyn asked her.
“I found a letter in the book and yes it’s the same. I don’t understand why she would put it in this book.” Scarlett telling them what she was thinking.
“Well, open it up and read it, so maybe you can find out,” Brooklyn said with a little sarcasm in her voice.
“You don’t have to be so sarcastic towards her Brooklyn. She was just saying. It’s not like would not read it.” Leah told Brooklyn in her motherly tone.
Brooklyn stuck her tongue out at Leah which made everyone bust out laughing. Scarlett opened the letter to look inside and there wasn’t much inside. Scarlett just looked confused at the letter.
“What is it, Scarlett? You look really confused.” Leah asked with concern in her voice.
“There is not much on this letter. Plus, it looks like a code of some sort and I don’t have a clue what kind it is or what it says. Then there is a short message from my mom.” explained Scarlett
“Well, I guess read the message first then we can go from there,” Brooklyn stated
Scarlett shook her head and got ready to read it out loud to her friend which was also her family. They were really all she had left in the world and now she has this letter from her mom and she was glad they were with her.
“Scarlett I know you have a lot of question right now. In time they will answer them all. I can’t explain it all right now to you. Just know you have a lot of the answers there in your hand. I know you can solve it. You are a very smart woman and you have two of the best people in your corner. Brooklyn and Leah will help you through this. You three have been together for everything in each other’s lives and I can’t see that changing no matter what. So all of your work together and I am sure you will solve the puzzle at hand before they come and try to get you guys to talk. Trust no one and be careful. I had to keep this from you till you guys were old enough to understand. I know you guys will continue and do the right thing. Figure it out fast cause I’m sure you don’t have a lot of time left before they come. He will be with them so please don’t be mad that I didn’t tell you it was for the best. Love you all.
That’s all it says. I’m not sure what she is talking about, but I guess we will have to figure it out and do what she thinks is best. I wished she was here.” Scarlett finished and waited to see what the others had to say.
“Wow, I can’t believe what you read. How could she keep things from you like this? I’m mean you were so young I guess I can see a little of this. It’s just so overwhelming to think about.” Leah was just shocked by everything.
“I have to agree with Leah in some ways. I guess I was also wondering how does she think we can figure this out with nothing to go on and how does she expect us to help you.” Brooklyn was trying to make a point.
“I wish I knew the answer to your guy's questions. I understand where you guys are coming from. Trust me when I say I wish I understood all this too.” Scarlett tried to explain to them.
“Well, let’s keep looking through all of this and see what we can find that may help explain that letter and stuff was with it a little better,” Leah spoke up.
The girls continued to sort through the boxes they had not touched yet. They were getting the sleep with going through all the boxes and still have found nothing more. So the girls called it a night and agreed that they would start fresh in the morning. Scarlett took the letter, and the coded message to her room and put it where no one who didn’t really know her would look. She had a weird-looking art piece from Japan and it had to be open a certain way or you couldn’t get the drawer open. They were the only ones who knew how to open it and that it had a drawer in the piece so she knew it would be safe. She walked back out of her room to go get a drink from the kitchen when she got grabbed from behind and knocked out. They carried her out into the hall and down the back stairs of the apartment build and put her in a black cargo van. The next morning the girls got up and wondered where Scarlett was and why she wasn’t up yet.
They walked to her room and noticed that she wasn’t there. They tried calling her cell phone and heard it ring in the kitchen. That’s when they have seen the spilled drink all over the floor and her cell laying on the floor. They knew something had happened to her. They called Detective Walsh to let him know what happened to Scarlett. Something worried the girls and wondered how much they could say to the detective. So they came up with a plan to only say they were going through Scarlett’s mom things and then she was missing. That’s all they knew and they don’t know who would do that to her. Once they both agreed on what they would say just in case, they couldn’t trust him. They needed to find Scarlett, and they were wondering if they should contact the guys for help. They knew the guys were into other s**t besides that club. They didn’t know what or how much. But they figure they would know how to get information out of people to help find Scarlett. Then they each made an all. Brooklyn called Roco and Leah called Luka and they told them what happens to a point. They knew Scarlett felt like something wasn’t right with them. They both knew that one or both of them would end up telling Enzo.
About an hour after they called the Detective he shows up at the apartment and then fifteen minutes after that the guys show up. The girls could tell there was tension in the air.
“Brooklyn, can you tell me what makes you think someone took Scarlett out of your apartment?” Detective Walsh asked
“When Leah and I got up, we noticed that Scarlett wasn’t up yet and that was odd. She always gets up before us. Then when we went into her room, we noticed that her bed wasn’t slept in. So we called her phone and found that in the kitchen. Scarlett goes nowhere without her cell phone. So that’s how we know she is missing and someone has taken her.” Brooklyn said to the Detective in a sarcastic tone.
“Do you have anything to add to this Leah?” the detective turned to her and spoke.
“No, detective. What Brooklyn told you to be correct. Scarlett is missing and someone had to have taken her.” Leah spoke in a firm voice.
“Being she is over the age of eighteen. I have to wait a full twenty-four hours before I can file a missing person report, but with everything going on with her this past week I will see what I can do. I will keep in touch and if she returns, please let me know.” Detective Walsh spoke to Brooklyn and Leah
“Thank you, Detective.” They both said at the same time.
Then the detective turned to the guys and spoke low just to them.
“If I find out you had anything to do with this and these girls get hurt. I will make sure you all three never see the light of day again except through a small window.” Then the detective left through the door.
“Ok, now he has left, tell us what really happened,” Enzo demanded
“Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but that happens,” Brooklyn replied
“Why did you call us here?” Roco asked
“We know you guys are into other things besides that club. We don’t know what kind and we really don’t care at this point. We want your help in tracking down our friend.” Brooklyn said in an as calm a voice as she could.
“We will help you, but I need to know everything going on here. Why do you think someone would want to take Scarlett?” Enzo asked them
“Look we don’t know why or what is going on here. We know that lately things have been happening to Scarlett, and it scared her.” Leah tried to explain
“Scare of what or who?” Luka spoke up for the first time today.
“That is just it genius. We don’t have a clue. It started when one of her professors came up missing. Then some guy telling to watch her back and a note showing up at different times. Saying things about her mom and stuff. That’s all we know and the cops know it too.” Brooklyn responded in a harsh tone.
“There is no need to get mad at us. We didn’t take her, but we will help find her.” Luka said to them
“I have a question. Did she think we had a part in some of that?” Enzo asked them
Both girls looked at each other and got this guilty look on their face. They didn’t want to have to tell them Scarlett didn’t trust them at all. That she thought they were hiding something, and she doesn’t like secrets.
“Yes, Scarlett didn’t trust you guys. Enzo she thought you were keeping things from her and that you were trying to find something out and using her to get what you wanted. Scarlett is usually not wrong about those things.” Brooklyn spoke up
Something took the guys back a little from what Brooklyn told them. Then they masked their faces back up.
“Ok, Well I guess then we will see what we can do. One of us will be in touch. Keep your doors locked and stay together if you guys go anywhere.” Enzo said and headed for the door to leave.
The guys followed him out the door and they headed out to see if it could involve one guy them thought in this. If it involved who he thought it did, then there would be hell to pay. You don’t come in his territory and they ask a favor just to go behind his back and take what you want. Not without paying the price.
