Rio.
A sudden hush settles between us. Our gazes lock, and I feel the growing tide of embarrassment on Veil's face.
She wanted to feel aroused?
As much as it shocks me, I'm equally thrilled to know that was her reason.
All through the night I f****d Emma; it was her face that I was seeing. Not my wife's.
Now, here I am with my biggest obsession, admitting to watching us for pleasure.
Her throat works, mouth dropping open. She wants to say something.
"Um...I mean...it was just for..." she stammers, clearly not sure what to say.
She's scared. It's in the way she's subtly shaking, in the twitch of her eyes.
I know she assumes I hate her just like everyone else, but it's far from it.
If given the chance, I'll devour her right here and now. I'll feast on her musk and drown in the pools of her heat.
But eyes are watching.
Every corner of the pack house is littered with cameras that tell the elders what's happening within.
Those old hags are desperately watching to see who will break the laws so they'll bring hell on them.
Here, the laws are valued more than food. We believe every action against the natural laws of the pack will bring punishment to all; hence, they go to great lengths to ensure no one breaks them, not even us alphas.
That's why I can't claim Veil yet.
That's why I can't express myself, to tell her how I feel, how happy I am to know she's back.
The timing isn't right. I doubt it ever will.
The condition has left me a mess on the inside, leaving me raging for destruction.
At this point, the denial is almost driving me feral. The difference between Quin and me isn't much, only that my madness is coming from being denied what I truly want.
The woman I truly wish to call mine.
I harden my eyes even as they draw maps on her bare arms, over the magnificent swell of her breasts, which by the way are way bigger than I remember, to her chapped lips, which she is biting.
Goddess, she's tempting me by doing that, making me wish for a taste of those lips.
I take a glimpse at the camera in the balcony, noticing that from its angle, it'll barely catch us being in each other's spaces, and I move an inch toward her.
My voice drops an octave lower when I speak.
"So, did you get what you were looking for?"
Her head snaps up and those blue orbs pool into mine, swirling in bewilderment.
"What? Didn't you say you wanted to feel aroused?"
Fuck, mentioning that alone makes my blood rush south. My b***r starts to rear its head, coursing chills through me.
I become more vulgar as I ask again, "Did your p***y get juicy while watching us? Tell me what you did right after."
She brittles, fiddling with the hem of her hair as uncertainty bleeds through her features.
It takes her a while to speak, and her response crushes me.
"No."
My breath catches in blatant shock.
"I didn't get aroused."
She isn't lying. Every word she spilled is true.
Shame swirls through me at her words, and I lower my head momentarily, snorting.
My intention is to get something out of her, even the littlest reaction that every female who has watched me felt.
I'm called the s*x god for a reason. I've helped thousands of females and males out there get through their s****l dryness, the state where their spark for intimacy is lost.
No one knows it's me, certainly. The s*x god everyone raves about, but that was a career I built based on my obsession with Veil.
Since I couldn't let the world know openly how much I wanted and desired her. I had to let them know the only way I could, behind masks and cameras.
Behind every word I put down on the caption, fantasizing having the woman I've wanted beneath me as I show her how much she's meant through my touches and reverent kisses.
Here I am, standing before her and listening to her confess she felt nothing.
It's a stab to my chest, but with a grit of my jaw, I push back the swirl of emotion.
"That's good to know, little sister," I smirk deviously. "But you do know your actions have consequences, right?"
Veil fidgets, seeming to realize where she– Moonbloom, a very conservative pack.
I pounce on that opportunity to get what I want from her.
"If words are to get out about what you did last night..."
She's already on her knees before I could finish, hands clasped together in plea.
"Please, forgive me, Rio..."
"Alpha!" I cut in, adding steel to my voice.
I've to erase any form of formalities if I want her to truly comply.
She nods rapidly, correcting herself with a slight pitch to her voice. "Alpha." Palms rubbing together, she continues. "I promise to do anything but please, don't expose my mishaps to...anybody."
Her voice is clogged with desperation and fear. There's no telling what punishment the elders might mete out on her if they are to hear this.
I throw my hands up in surrender, humming. "Fine. Your secret is safe with me under one condition."
"What?"
"You'll do whatever I tell you to do, wherever I tell you to do it, and whenever I tell you to do it. It doesn't matter what it is I ask you to do. Your duty is to obey, no questions asked. Deal?"
I shoot out my hand for a handshake, something that'll signal an agreement to this deal.
Veil looks contemplative at first, but when she flicks a look at the camera on the balcony, she stiffly nods. Her hand slips into mine, callused and bruised, different from what a woman's hand should feel like.
Different from the soft palm I shook the night her mother was married into the family, and she was introduced to us as our stepsister.
Noticing the frown on my face and questions lingering in the depths of my eyes, Veil quickly pulls her hand away.
She puts a distance between us, bowing her head.
It's so unlike her. I've never seen her act so meek.
"Veil, what happened..."
The loud buzz of the motorcycle engine from below interrupts my question, and then the thunderous crack of a gunshot follows.
Screams spiral through the air, reaching this room and rattling my nerves enough to let me know something is wrong.
"Where the f**k is he!? Come the hell out!"
Hunter.
Veil, scared, squeals and runs behind a chair, clasping her hands over her ears and muttering incoherent words. Her body is trembling hard like a leaf in the middle of a storm.
She sniffles, and I rush to look, surprised to see her in tears.
"Der...please..." she speaks incorrigibly, hugging her knees to her chest as more chaos erupts outside.
"Veil...?"
She tightly clenches her eyes, refusing to look at me, and every bit of her action rushes through my bones, unsettling me.
There's something wrong with her.
I try to call again, but Hunter's wrathful voice booms again like the clap of thunder.
"Rio, get the hell out of here if you've got some balls!!!"
Anger blasts through my chest instantly because of the ruckus he's causing, because of whatever is happening to Veil.
I emerge to my feet, fuming with my fingers curling into a fist, and the sounds of bones cracking ripple in the quiet room.
"I'll be right back." I hiss through my teeth. It doesn't matter if she hears it or not because I'm not about to break my word.
My boots hammer over the floor as I exit the room, careful not to slam the door and startle her.
I hasten down the stairs as murmurs rise from the guards and maids who have gathered around, watching Hunter pace like a raging beast.
If there's someone who hates associating with us in this family, it's Hunter.
He's the rebellious one.
The one who's ready to damn all laws just to assert himself in the pack.
We don't cross paths. We don't see eye to eye. He's always in his territory, and I'm always in mine, but today he's crossed me, and I won't fold my arms and watch.
"Hunter!" I boom as I stand on the cobblestone steps, watching him while boiling over on the inside.
He draws to a halt, snarls at me, and whips through the air like lightning until he's standing in front of me. Raising the barrel of his Mk47, he slams it over my jaw hard and swiftly. I didn't see it coming.
I stagger backward, my fingers darting over my broken lip, and when I pull it back, I feel the warm coat of blood staining my fingertips.
"Bastard, what the f**k did you do to my shipment!?" His voice is a quiet snarl in my ear.
He tries to attack again, but my reflex kicks in, and I send a sickening blow to his face.
Gasps echo behind us, feet shuffling over the ground as people hurry to separate us, but it's too late; this is a full-blown fight.
TBC.
