I stared at the huge building in front of me, it was just so grey. The students that chose to stand in front of the building talking were all being rushed inside by teachers.
"you'll be fine, Ayanna. Any problems and you know to call me"
"Yeah, sure" I shrugged
I'd been giving Ambrose short responses ever since our disagreement last week, and it was going to remain that way until I got some answers. I wasn't raised to be a push over.
"See ya" I spoke before leaving his vehicle.
I roamed the halls for a few minutes hoping to see some sort of signs that would help guide me to the main office but I came up short.
"Excuse me, could you-"
"No"
The girl that I attempted to ask for directions continued to walk past me.
"Rude" I huffed
I watched her stop a few meters up the corridor beside two other people. She joined the company of a red headed girl and dark haired boy.
I didn't notice straight away that the boys gaze was already on me but when I moved my eyes over to him our eyes connected.
Tall, dark and handsome was made just to describe him. I wanted to bring my eyes away but they felt so trapped by his.
"Hey, new right?"
The girls voice saved me from what ever spell I was trapped under.
"uh yeah, that's right" I smiled at her
"Don't mind Rebecca, she's a moody b***h so don't take it too personal"
She must've been talking about that girl. I turned my attention back to the spot Rebecca had walked to but all three of them were gone.
"I'm Amira" she smiled
"Ayanna" I replied
"well it's nice to meet you. Can I help you get somewhere?"
"the main office please, I need my schedule"
"sure thing, follow me"
Amira helped me to the office and even helped me find my locker. Turns out we shared a good amount of classes together too which meant I would have some company. She seemed like a nice girl after all.
The lessons seemed to go by fast which I was grateful for and before I knew it, lunch time had rolled around.
"Wanna sit with me and my friends for lunch?"
"Umm sure"
"Great, you'll like them... most of them" she spoke while scratching her head
"Most?" I laugh
She doesn't answer right away, she just keeps walking towards the back of the cafeteria.
"most" she huffs as she come to a stop
I look at the people sat around the table, two boys and two girls. One of those being Rebecca and the other the red headed girl from this morning.
Great.
"Budge up!" Amira orders
The two boys move further up the bench creating more room for us both.
"who is this?" a blonde boy asks
"This is Ayanna, she's new here"
Amira then turns her attention to Rebecca.
"Be nice" she adds on
Rebecca just rolls her eyes and picks up a sandwich. The other three that I still don't know the names of are watching me as I sit beside Amira.
"I'm Luca" the blonde boy tells me
"Zaid" the other boy speaks
"and I'm Alix, Nice to meet you" the red head states
"Nice to meet you all too" I reply
"where is Tobias?" Amira asks
My mind wonders back to the boy I had locked eyes with this morning. He was stood with Rebecca and Alix so perhaps he is also in their friendship group.
"Something came up" Zaid answers
All of the group began sharing looks which I guess was some sort of silent communication.
"oh" Amira finally speaks
The rest of lunch was spent listening to Luca's jokes, some were terrible while others actually made me laugh. When hearing the bell, we all went our separate ways to different lessons.
At the end of the school day, I stood in the car park waiting for Ambrose to pick me up.
"Good day?"
The voice caught me by surprise but I soon realized it was Luca.
"Not bad" I answered
"I guess not bad is good enough" he chuckled
He looked off into the distance then brought his eyes back to me.
"Well I better go but I'll see you tomorrow"
He waved over his shoulder as he jogged towards a car that Mr. mysterious from earlier was leaning on. I could only assume that he was Tobias.
He managed to notice me amongst the other students. This was the second time he had caught me looking at him.
How embarrassing.
Rather than keeping a straight face like this morning, he smirked and after a moment longer he sent me a wink.
I rolled my eyes and looked away. I wasn't going to give in to his cockiness.
"Ayanna, over here!"
Well looks like brother day care has arrived.
