" How was shopping". Jason asked,downing a bottle of water. Walking over the kitchen counter, he helped her with the bags. " Not bad at all,i could get used to this. By the way I met an elderly lady by the elevator,apparently she wanted to meet the new occupants. I think she is the house keeper". " Oh, i met her too. She is actually in charge of this whole unit. She seems nice doesn't she?". " She wasn't bad at all". She said moving to the bedroom, with the bags in hand. Jason followed closely behind her. " I got an email from work. Its about my leave, i was granted a week off work ....". He let out a sigh." i cant believe i have to put up with your presence for a whole week". " Ooh well let me remind you that we have a marriage certificate in the wardrobe". she said with a sneer. " And you have a comeback for every argument". He said with a meek voice. She let out a small laugh as she poked him " Okay petty Jason, we have work to do". They immersed themselves in their work all through the day without missing a chance to throw jabs at each other. Their friendship was a one of sacrifice, they both had stories,stories they needed healing from. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ It was pitch dark. The raging thunder storm made the feeling more eerie. A lone figure stood far off,staring at a door ahead. With a frozen expression her little feet moved began to move. she heard whimpering sounds from the room which increased her fright. Getting to the door she pushed it open,slowly,till she saw a figure on the floor,bent in an almost impossible way. The woman assumed the worst when she heard the sound of the door and lifted up her face,her eyes filled with fear as she waited for that voice. But at the sight of the figure in her vision,her breathing became even as she struggled for composure. "Mama". The voice was shaky and shrill. Moving forward she knelt close to her mother as she took in her disheveled state, they was bruises and tears. " Mama don't die again". " Mama won't die again, mama is making you a promise.Now leave. He won't be gone for too long,keep the door shut till I come for you". " i want to stay with you.Come with me ". The tiny voice pleaded. She wanted her mother with her. The sound of a door shutting drew their attention, causing her mother to push her away in a haste " Leave fom here please. You have to go, run to your room and shut the door. And remember,daddy loves you". The little girl ran off at those final word, she shut the door to her room and waited for a sound.And a sound did come,the painful cry of a woman was heard till it was drowned by the heavy thunder. Her face was clouded by the shadows as she moved her lips. Her voice was faint but she kept on speaking. "Daddy loves me" "Daddy loves me" "Daddy loves me" Her vision became distorted as a voice called out to her, a worried voice.But she would not stop talking. It wasn't over yet, till the darkness came. He sat at the far end of his bed as he looked at her sweaty face. He heard her words but could not get her to wake up. She never spoke about her life and he respected that but seeing her in this much pain aroused his suspicions. Who was her father?. Only she could answer that question and he was determined to find out.
