Sarpi's warriors had just made yet another surprise attack on the Persians. the attacks didn't do as much damage anymore, as the Persians had already expected it, so they had created extensive rounds and guard posts. What Sarpi found strange was that they had fewer warriors in the camp than usual, and their response time was very slow. A gray dove was approaching with speed until Sarpi, who, preventing one of his warriors from hitting it with a javelin, took it in his hand. Taking out the message tied to the dove's leg, he untied the string and read: Paesos is ours, There are 2000 Persian immortals at the gates and on the wharf a huge fleet approaches, send us reinforcements, or we'll perish, we're at 7000, the gods smiled at us, I just don't know how long they'll keep smiling. After reading the message, Sarpi sent his best runner to take this message to the Count who was 6 km away from their current position. Knowing the need to keep up the pressure, Sarpi prepared to strike again. A few hours had passed, it had started to rain, Sarpi and 250 men were walking silently through a forest that was turning into a muddy swamp. Unexpectedly, an arrow pierced the throat of a warrior trying to free his foot from the mud, from the top of the trees, warriors with sad-faced masks jumped, Sarpi already recognizing them as the infamous Persian immortals, elite warriors who did not fear death, and that level of power, was hidden from Sarpi's eyes. In that small clash, Sarpi had killed two, while of his warriors, in a few moments, 50 of the initial 250 were left alive. The commander of this immortal detachment said in a strangely accented Greek: _Surrender yourself shark of Hades, and you will be treated with dignity. you and your remaining men, i believe you all have someone to go back to right? sons? wifes? Everyone had the conviction to follow Sarpi to hell if he asked, but when the Persian asked about children and wives, they all felt weak. Sarpi knowing the hearts of his men said: _Release your spears men! put your hands up! we will surrender today to fight another day! The Persian commander opened a big smile and said: _I do not think so! Then he gestured to his men, and they decapitated the 50's head, seeing that Sarpi tried to take his romphaia, but soon after an immortal knocked Sarpi out with a blow to the back of his head.
