Sarpi awoke to a loud drumbeat and angry screams.
When he got up from the tent and out of it, A ballista's arrow had almost split him in half, not doing so, thanks to his superhuman reflexes.
It was too early, the sun had barely risen, and the enemy's enraged attack had already begun. Sarpi, remembering the shields Kiro had said the day before, ran to a warrior who was serving as a messenger and said:
_Tell Kiro to send the 20 shields to the north wall, and fast!
The messenger nodded yes and ran towards the makeshift command center.
Wooooo!
Another ballista arrow pierced the sky, continuing to fly and penetrating a wooden house where one of Kiro's warrior families lived.
The way the arrow went through the wall, it killed 2 of the 3 impaled residents.
The third, who was a muscular young man, was taking his last breaths.
Sarpi was increasingly surprised how cruel humans were to each other, there was no limit to human cruelty.
An idea formed in his head: he wasn't going to live in a world dominated by humans. He wanted a space for his real people.
He didn't know how long it would take, but he wanted to do something for his kind.
Turning his attention to the battle, Sarpi ran to the wall.
Upon climbing it, he saw of his 30 men, 14 were alive, all the others had fought and died bravely.
Despite having a large numerical difference, no enemy had managed to climb the ladder completely to invade the fortress.
Sarpi was again surprised by what he saw, so deciding to continue the good work of his men, he drew out his rusty romphaia, his makeshift shield, his courage and shouted to moralize his men:
_Hold on men! Olympo awaits us! By Crete!
Uhaaaaaaa!!
The men responded, feeling motivated to see their leader fight with them.
