Alone

206 Words
While mom and dad are gone I head into the library looking for something to distract myself from the sheer quiet nature of our empty home, where there is nothing to accompany me but my own foot steps and breathing. I look all along the shelves reading various titles all in order because mom gets bored and has to arrange things. I see nothing of interest as I've read every title. I begin to dust since there is nothing else to do when I suddenly hit something on top of the shelf with the duster I knock it down carefully and catch it before it hits the floor. It's a leather bound book tied carefully with a leather strap it looks like it has been long forgotten my curiosity begging me to open it. Something inside tells me to leave it alone and ask my mom about it but the other side says what's the harm in reading a book? I sit on the sectional with my new found treasure and I decided to open it. The book is old that the once white pages have turned a yellow color. I am entranced at the fact that this isn't a book at all it's a diary.
