Coming out of my shell

I've been cooped up a lot lately, I took the threats a little too seriously I believe. Grey is being patient with me, but I'm sure he is getting annoyed with me, he has sent one of his friends to keep me company, which I don't mind, we get on well, we have grown really close which I'm sure Grey is not happy with but I see Jake as a big brother. We play board games, chat, just the usual stuff.

I'm starting to feel a little weird, maybe it is because I've not had any fresh air. I can't deal with feeling like this, so I do something I'd never thought possible, I venture out of my room in pursuit of Jake. I wonder if he will come to the gardens with me.

I go to the kitchen, he's not there. Maybe Grey knows where he is, I'll go down to his office.

"Knock, knock" I wait for a moment before I enter.

I hear him shout come in.

He turns and drops what he's doing in shock that it's me that's knocked on the door.

I had to giggle at his reaction.

"Sophia, you don't need to knock, you're the luna, this place is yours too".

I knew that, but I didn't like just parading in, like I owned the place. Last time I did that in my own home, I got beaten. I learned that lesson fast.

"I'm sorry, I was looking for Jake, I wondered if he wanted a walk with me in the gardens".

Grey looked at me for a moment.

"Hmm. Do I have anything to worry about? You and Jake seem pretty close?"

I knew from his tone he was joking. I smiled at him.

"No Sophia I haven't seen him".

"Okay, thanks anyway". I turned to search the house when Grey called me.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, thank you, are you?" Why's he asking me that?

"Could I take you on this walk instead?"

"I thought you were busy, that's why I asked Jake". I could see the hurt in his eyes.

"But yes, I'd love you to join me!"

He took my hand in his and lead me out to the gardens. It wasn't out of the house, but it was a start and I think Grey knew that too.

"It's beautiful out here, so many pretty flowers". I did love the garden, I'd come out here more often now. That made me happy inside knowing I could do it. The next step was doing it alone.

I heard someone shout my name. It was Jake.

"How dare you go on a romantic walk in the garden and not invite me". He placed a mocking hand over his heart, and put on the puppy dog eyes.

I of course laughed at him.

Jake is Gay, but he hasn't told anyone apart from me, I can be myself around him, He's not feminine as some, I know he'd protect me always. He's become my best friend, bought me out of my depressive mood, just by being in the room.

"Ill leave you two to it". Grey wandered off, he doesn't know about Jake, I'm sure he thinks Jake is after me. I'm not his type at all, I will talk to Grey later but because I couldn't handle the thought of him being hurt I sent him a quick text.

"Don't be upset, I'm not Jake's type, Explain later. Xx"

Jake and I continued to walk, chatting about silly stuff, like what to watch next on movie night, what snacks to buy.

He makes me feel better, like I matter.

He's dying for me to go to the store with him, and to all our surprise, I agreed!!!

I asked Grey to come along too, I missed him. I whispered that Jake is gay, his eyebrows shot up then realisation hit him, he giggled in front of the whole store.

"Jake?" Grey asked.

"Yes, Sir?"

"Thank you for bringing Sophia out of her shell, she's the happiest I've seen her".

Jake's face fell red. I laughed at him. Then his face fell serious.

"You're most welcome. She's my bestie! She's beautiful when she's smiling".
