Getting to know each other!

Class soon finished, Grey said he will catch up with me soon, he was just going to the bathroom and he'd meet me by my locker.

I got to my locker putting my books away ready for break, then I heard a high pitch screech that sounded like my name. Yes it was Whitney, the barbie wannabe.

"Hi Whitney. Is there an issue?"

"Why are you hanging around that guy like a leech, he wants me, so do one and leave him alone, or your home life is gonna become alot more uncomfortable for you!"

"I didn't, he came to sit with me, I didn't ask him too. He started talking to me, not the other way around". She is really annoying.

"Well, next time, tell him to get lost, or else". Ugh, I'm going to regret my next reply but what the hell.

"I'm sorry Whitney, but no, I won't, He's my friend. I'm not going to do what you say because you want him to be your new toy". Oops!

"How dare you! Like he'd ever choose you over me" Look at you! Look at me! You're nothing!" I felt a sharp sting across my face. She slapped me. Just then I heard a shout.

"GET THE HELL AWAY FROM HER NOW!!!" It was Grey. Oh he was furious.

Everyone I knew was hanging around the lockers, some laughing, some videoing it on their phones.

"Now that I have everyone's attention, noone in this school lays a finger on this girl again, If I hear one of you has even touched a hair on her head or even accidentally bumped into her I'll make sure you pay for it! Do you understand?!" Grey shouted loud enough so it echoed throughout. Everyone scurried off quickly.

"ERM thank you" I replied.

Grey smiled and walked off, but I knew this wasn't over I'd still have to go back to the hell hole which is home.

He just smiled and walked off. I head outside for lunch. I find a bench which noone uses to sit and read my book for the next 45-60 mins.

20mins into my book and I feel a tap on my shoulder, jumping out of my skin in fear, I look up and its Grey. Phew!

"You scared the crap outta me Grey" I said angry.

"Sorry doll, I couldn't find you in the cafeteria". slight grin on his face I noticed. We both heard shouting, it was my brother.

"Hey you little slag, just because you've got yourself a new bodyguard in school, doesn't mean you can go around here owning the place. We will still get you at home. You will learn to know your damn place". He went to strike me, Greys hand stopped him with a warning look. I couldn't put Grey through this anymore. My brother stomped off.

"Grey, thank you for that, but I'm going to get it real bad at home later, don't worry, I've gotten use to the fact that I will be killed by them one day and I'm really ok with it. I've been luckily enough to last nearly 18years, but you are only going to be hated too for sticking up for me, that's not what a friend should put another through, so please, for your sake and mine, you need to leave me alone".

My heart, I saw tears in his eyes as he walked off, he dropped a box at my feet with "Sophia xx" on.

I opened the box and it was the phone he said I could have. Inside a note that reads :

"Sophia, thank you for being my friend, I know from what I've witnessed so far that you're not going to stay my friend. I would of protected you forever. No girl should ever have to face abuse but especially not the prettiest girl I've ever laid eyes on. Please keep the phone incase you need help. Keep it hidden, but on you at all times. My number is stored in there. You have unlimited calls, texts, internet. Text me at all times if you must.

Grey xo"

I take the phone out of the box as soon as I get to a place noone will see. It lights up with a text from Grey.

" Please stay my friend. I'd protect you with my life G x"

I hit reply : "I can't do that to you. I can handle the beatings, but if you insist fine. I'm by the tree, come sit with me. Thank you for the phone. I love it S x"

As soon as I hit send, he was by my tree in a flash. I smiled at him and he smiled back.

"Sophia, why aren't you eating lunch" Grey asks. Oh wow. Didn't think he'd notice.

"ERM, well the alpha, who's my dad, made sure the lunch ladies didn't give me any food, that's all I know. I tried a few times, but one lady got a bit teary telling me no, and I asked why, she told me because my father has asked them not to give me any, if they do, they'll be fired, you've seen how many people eat in there. Word would of got back".

Grey looks at me with tears in his eyes, I just smile at him.

"Sophia, how much do you eat and how many times a day? Wow he's full of questions today.

"Honestly, some weeks not at all, but I'll always be allowed bottled water, other weeks twice a week max, it's okay, it took a while, but my body is use to it now" I said with a slight smile.

He tried to mask his emotions, but I could see the fist forming in his lap. I tried to convince him it's okay. He wasn't buying any of it, he quickly excused himself and I headed to class.

Last class of the day English.

Grey was in this one too, he came to sit by me again. I don't mind now.

He started asking more questions while we did our work.

"Are your mother and father together?" Grey asks.

"Yes, they're Alpha and Luna, all of the pack get treated like family, but not me. I was their mistake, they longed for two sons, but got me instead, they've hated me my whole life, same with my brother". I replied honestly. It doesn't upset me anymore and I could tell Grey noticed.

"What do they and the pack do to you Sophia?" Oh wow he's going in real deep.

"Well, apart from not giving me food, I cook for them all, I clean every room, Laundry and the last one is I'm everyone's punching bag". Well might aswell be honest.

"Last question for now doll, how many times do they hurt you?" Jeeze Grey come on!!

"Daily. Numerous of times. Its okay. I'm use to the pain by now" I smiled at him, but the hurt in his eyes says it all. Looking at him, I try to ease his uncomfort.

"Grey, I'm going to be fine, I can handle a few beatings. I have done for so long, they don't really hurt anymore. Please don't worry." He just stared at me.

"Will you be eating tonight doll". OK i guess we are not done with the questions.

"Honest answer is probably not after what happened today, my brother will soon be the first to go running to Alpha Mason to explain the day". There goes the bell, home time. I ran out, put my books away and walked home. On the walk home, the phone vibrated.

"Hey, Text me when you can tonight so I know you're ok x"

I texted back : " Yes boss, sure thing! xx"

Back at home an hour after everyone else, I get called to the Alphas office. Great.

"Sit down Sophia, and answer me these questions.

1- Did someone give you food today?

2- Have you got a new male friend?

3- Did you refuse an order from Whitney?"

"Alpha, I can assure you that I did not eat today.

Yes, I have made a friend today, I tried to get him to leave me alone but wouldn't.

And yes, I refused an order from Whitney. I'm very sorry"

Great, I know what's coming now.

"Sophia, I do believe you are telling the truth, but you can't ignore orders from those above you. Cook the packs meals, clean up after them. For breaking my rules you will spend the night in the cells No food No water"

" Yes Alpha".

I put my stuff in my room before cooking and locked it behind me, I'll grab the phone before I head to the cells.

As I head to the kitchen, my brother and his friends cornered me, my brother kicked me in the stomach while his friends held my arms.

"Where is your boyfriend now, slag" with several punches to my face. I didn't cry. I refused to cry.

With my face all bloodied, I excused myself and went to the Alphas office. I knocked.

"Yes come in" my father shouted.

" Alpha, I'm so sorry for interrupting, but I wondered if it was okay to get cleaned up before I cook, I'm sure the pack would appreciate not tasting my blood with their meal"

He smiled at my face, nodded and shut the door on me.

Dinner cooked, I had cleaned up, got my phone out of the room and headed down to the cells. Darkness & coldness. I spend most of my time here.

I text Grey.

"Hi, I'm okay. How are you?x"

within a second he responds.

"How bad are you?"

I text back.

"My ribs are bruised and my face is smashed in. I'll cover it with make up tomorrow under Alphas orders.

hows your evening xx"

within a second again I get a response :

" I'm going to kill them, everyone of them. Where are you now" I think about it for a while before texting back, but he texts me again.

"Sophia where are you?"

I text back.

"cells".

Half an hour goes by and he doesn't message back. I try to fall asleep. It doesn't come easy. Greys mad at me.

I send a quick text.

"Sorry if you're mad at me. See you tomorrow. Night. xx"

For the next two hours I toss and turn. I can't get comfy on this floor, at least I get a mattress in my room. It's used and battered but better than a cold floor that I'm on now. I check my phone, no messages.

I had just dozed off when the sun started shining, one of the guards unlocked the door around 4.30am so I could start breakfast.

6.30am breakfast is cooked, yet I didn't take any. I quickly go to my room to get changed for school, I put the phone on to charge for an hour. Still no message from Grey. I guess I'll see him at school.

7am I lock my room and go clean up after the pigs. 8am I head off to school.

9am I arrive at school, head to my locker for my science books and head to class, I go sit at my usual spot, Grey is a no show. It's too risky to text him here. It's okay though, I've never had a friend anyway so I expected to leave.

During the day I got remarks of "Has your boyfriend got fed up with you already" I just ignored them.

Lunchtime approaches so I find a secluded place where I could text Grey.

"You're not at school, are you okay? I'm worried about you".

I'll not bother texting him again if he doesn't reply. I'd of got the hint.

The next few classes go fast. Before I know it, its home time.

On my walk home, I check the phone. No messages. That's OK. I'll return the phone somehow when I can. I don't need it if he doesn't want anything to do with me. I expected nothing more. I'm not upset. It was nice to feel what it's like to have a friend for a day.

Back to normality for me, cooking, cleaning, beatings.

I had do everyone's laundry today. Luckily, after a month, the Alpha said I could wash mine too.

Still no food, although I can have two bottles of water. Luckily I have a strawberry plant in my room, so I'll have a few strawberries later.

Still no message from Grey. I hope he's ok.

I get stuck into the laundry. I'll be here for hours.

I can't blame him, who would want to be friends with someone who gets used as a punchbag. I check the damn phone once more and I do have a message.

"Hi doll, I'm fine. Just needed a day to myself. How are you?"

Well at least he's talking to me. I shoot a quick reply.

"I'm fine". Send.

Somehow I thought that he'd save me from this hell hole. I was wrong, but on the bright side, 3 weeks left until I can officially leave here. I will become 18!
