It was around eleven in the evening by the time both Adam and Scarlett had arrived at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and made their way up towards the Penthouse suite. Adam couldn’t stop thinking about the phone call, it was eating away at his mind with each passing second.
Scarlett on the other hand had brushed it off as merely a prank call and thought nothing more on the matter. Perhaps this was her mistake.
Shrugging his jacket off in an effort to get more comfortable, Adam looked up and noticed Scarlett who was undressing through the crack of her open bedroom door. He couldn’t help but swallow nervously as the beautiful nude woman reached out to grasp at something laying on her mattress and began dressing herself.
Normally he would be a complete gentleman and look away out of respect, but tonight his animalistic side had emerged and the very sight of her was intoxicating.
He needed to have her…
-
Scarlett in the meantime was dressing herself in her thin black bikini with the intention of going for a dip in the Penthouse’s jacuzzi. As she tied the strap around her neck and adjusted her breasts she hadn’t yet noticed as Adam slowly crept in closer and closer from behind.
Seconds later she could smell his cologne and smiled with delight.
“How about a little privacy, Mr. Cunningham.” she taunted, turning around to face him. “If that’s not too much to ask?”
Adam merely growled, his eyes narrowing with unquenchable hunger as he stood right in front of her, his gaze fixed on the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes upon.
“f**k you’re gorgeous.” he commented, lifting his hand up to brush a strand of her hair away from her face, tucking it in gently behind her left ear.
“How the hell did I get so lucky?”
Her smile grew as she lowered her head out of embarrassment.
But Adam moved his hand down, gently lifting her chin and forcing her to meet his eyes once more. His expression was now quite serious, his warm chocolate brown eyes boring deeply into her very soul.
“I’m serious.” he continued to explain his feelings, caught up in such an overwhelming sensation of desire and admiration.
“You have no idea of just how special you are to me, Scarlett. I’d do anything for you.”
She looked into his eyes, feeling the growing warmth now filling her with such incredible happiness.
She was truly in love with this man.
There was no doubt in her mind.
Lifting both hands up to wrap around the back of Adam’s neck, Scarlett spoke her feelings for him to hear.
“Just love me, the way I love you… that’s all I could ask for…” she announced softly before adding, “…and maybe stop spoiling me so much.”
“Not gonna happen.” he grinned devilishly, shaking his head from side to side as he wrapped both of his arms around the back of her waist and held her in place, pressing their chests together.
She chuckled, her smile brightening even more than before.
Scarlett was finally happy. It had been a rough trip to get here, but standing here in the arms of this man, she finally felt the kind of love she deserved.
A deep and meaningful love.
Closing their eyes, the couple both leaned in and pressed their lips against one another’s, igniting a slow and sensual kiss which seemed to heighten as it progressed. Before she knew it her tongue slid into his mouth, coaxing his to come out and play.
And he immediately obliged.
Feeling the need to part for a breath, Scarlett pulled her head back and opened her eyes slowly, abuzz from the euphoric sensations running throughout her system. He was an incredible kisser, not to mention the countless other things he was good at.
As Adam too opened his eyes Scarlett suddenly had an idea.
“Come on, let’s go for a swim.” Scarlett suggested, separating from him and turning to walk towards the doorway. She could only hope that he would follow her lead.
Making sure to sway her hips from side to side in an utterly seductive manner, then turning her head to the side and glancing back at him over her shoulder, Scarlett had him hooked once more.
“You coming?”
“You do realise I didn’t bring any bathers with me to dinner.” he reminded, turning to face her.
Scarlett laughed softly at his comment before replying with a c****d brow.
“Who said you'd be wearing anything?”

Parked just outside of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel was the same sleek black car, waiting in the darkened streets and filled with the same three men as before. Gabrielle sat in the front passenger seat, his piercing blue eyes fixed on the screen of his phone.
He was awaiting a reply from Dimitri about their next move.
It was time for them to send Scarlett a message; one that she wouldn’t be able to ignore.
Suddenly his phone lit up and began vibrating. The name on the screen read ‘Boss’.
His authentic ringtone chimed throughout the car until he pressed the ‘answer call’ green button and held the phone up against his right ear.
“Yeah boss?”
“Time for an update. How are things looking?”
Dimitri’s tone was void of emotion as he waited to hear from his second-in-command. At that very moment the Mafia Boss was sitting in his darkened living room on one of the thick plush sofa seats.
“They arrived at the hotel around ten minutes ago. Looks like he went in with her and we haven’t seen him since.” Gabrielle reported calmly.
He knew that this information would almost definitely infuriate his boss and predicted an outburst at any second now. There was another man with his hands on Scarlett. Anyone in Dimitri’s position would be blinded by rage and unrelenting jealousy of what could be happening at that very moment.
Gabrielle waited patiently as the other end of the phone remained silent.
Dimitri was gripping the edge of his sofa so tightly that each of his knuckles had turned white and his face was all contorted in anger. If he had his way he would have just marched right into that Penthouse suite and rid himself of the rich bastard once and for all.
But he needed to stick to his plan.
The goal was only meant to frighten Scarlett, to give her the feeling of impending doom as it slowly snuck up on her. To make her feel vulnerable and alone.
Gabrielle relaxed as Dimitri suddenly spoke.
“You know what to do. Do not f**k this up.”
With that the call ended and Gabrielle turned off his screen, pocketing it once more.
They had been given the green light to move.
Turning to face the other two sitting with him in the car, Gabrielle spoke as he took his glock out of its holster.
“Time to make a move.”

By now both Adam and Scarlett were submerged chest deep in the bubbling warm water. Blue coloured neon lights glowed from beneath the water, causing it to appear quite tranquil.
Adam sat up against the edge of the jacuzzi with Scarlett comfortably on his lap. They each held a champagne glass and continued sipping as the sound of bubbling water filled the large outdoor balcony.
“I sure could get used to this.” Scarlett admitted with a satisfied smile.
Adam leaned the right side of his cheek against the top of her head. His free hand was currently wrapped lovingly around her waist, holding her in place as the bubble jets roughly pushed water around the tub.
He was enjoying the scent of her hair. Scarlett’s hair always smelt of vanilla and butterscotch and it had become one of his favourite fragrances since the moment they met.
It felt so very long ago, as if they had been with one another for years now. They knew each other well and seemed to fit in perfectly with one another.
It was almost too perfect...
Not that either of them had any reason to complain.
Scarlett’s murderous Mafia Boss Ex was out of the picture, or so they thought, and now the two of them could date freely without any concerns or understandable fear.
The stars sparkled brightly in the blanketing black sky above, the ambiance of such a beautiful location was what both of them felt they needed after all of the horrible events that had taken place in the last couple of months.
However, even in their romantic moment together Adam could not seem to erase the phone call from his mind and without realising it he was tapping his pointer finger against Scarlett’s side as he became lost in thought.
Noticing his finger tapping against her skin, Scarlett finally decided to find out what had him so distant. Pulling out of his hold she turned around and looked him straight in the eye.
“Alright, spit it out. What’s on your mind?”
Adam frowned, acting confused by her suggestion.
“What do you mean?
“I can tell there’s something bothering at you Adam, you’ve been really quiet since we left the restaurant.” she pointed out.
Closing his eyes for a moment, Adam felt guilty as he let out a long exhale and then reopened his eyes.
“It’s that phone call you got. You know, the one at the restaurant?” he began to explain.
Scarlett rolled her eyes before shaking her head with a smile.
“Oh, would you relax. It’s probably nothing… just a wrong number or someone playing some sort of prank. It happens all the time.”
But her words were of no comfort to him as he reached out and linked his fingers with hers.
“I just want to do whatever it takes to keep you safe. I won’t let anyone hurt you... not after...”
“I know.” she admitted, cutting in. “That’s one of the reasons that I love you.”
Adam went on.
“I mean, we don’t even know if the Mafia is still out looking for you or not.”
Scarlett frowned.
“But Dimitri’s dead. I shot him… there’s no way he survived. Why would they be looking for me?”
“I know, I know…”
Trailing off, Adam could see the sudden concern in Scarlett’s hazel eyes and was beginning to feel guilty for causing it. Instead of increasing her levels of fear he decided to brush the matter aside… for now at least.
“Never mind.”
He smiled and reached out, grabbing her champagne glass, placing them both down onto the side of the jacuzzi.
“Hey, I was gonna drink that.” she giggled playfully.
Apparently she had already had a little too much. She was feeling slightly tipsy, as if the world around her was warm and fuzzy.
“I’ve got something else for you to put in your mouth.” he announced bluntly.
Scarlett’s mouth fell wide open and she quickly splashed him in a playful manner.
“Excuse me? How dare you! I'm not one of your hussy ex-girlfriends!”
With a massive grin spread wide across his face Adam suddenly launched directly at her with both arms out to envelope her.
“Come here...”
Scarlett giggled loudly as his strong arms wrapped around her, pulling her in close against his chest as the bubbles raged around them.
After playfully struggling against his hold, she eventually relaxed into his arms.
“This thing with the Mafia… will it ever be over?” she finally asked, breaking the silence surrounding them.
Adam narrowed his eyes as he voiced his reply.
“I don’t know…” he paused for a moment before adding his next part.
“But I can promise you that I will do everything within my power to keep you safe. I couldn’t bear to lose you, Scarlett.”
With that he leaned his head down into her shoulder blade and began trailing soft kisses up the length of her neck, one at a time. The sensation of his soft lips against her bare skin caused goose bumps to form across her neck and back and she smiled, closing her eyes.
Soon enough Scarlett could feel a growing warmth beginning to form down below the water’s surface. His lips alone were causing her to let out soft moans as she continued to enjoy the obvious foreplay she was receiving.
“Mmmm… that feels so good.” she spoke sensually, tilting her head even more to allow him easier access.
“Don’t stop.”
Adam grinned as he replied, his breath fanning against her neck with each of his words and his teeth grazing carefully against her soft skin.
“Baby, I’m just getting started.”
