Lana ran as fast as she could back to the cabin, they had snuck out in the middle of the night after their first shift, to run alone, clear their heads and get in sink with one another, they didn't have much time.
They never in a million years thought they would run into Nolan in his wolf form! But that didn't mean they didn't make the most of it! Their plan had jumped a few stages but this worked even better!
When Lana first caught his scent, she was struggling between the strong mate pull, and her strong desire to kill him for being a traitor.
Luckily Sara had reminded her they needed him in order to find out who was after her family and behind setting up the attacks.
The plan to have the Wolves exchange marks was brilliant because by solidifying the bond, they would be able to feel some of his emotions, or know if he was lying or hiding something.
Sara had let Lana shut her off in the back of her mind while they mated, but that did not keep her wolf from blabbing the whole way back about how big he was, and how good he was.
'OKAYYYY! I GET IT! He was awesome! great, glad you had your fun! Just please don't fall in love with him... he's a traitor!'
Sara was trying to keep things from getting even more difficult, if her wolf fell for his, it would be extra hard to do everything they had to do.
'I know... but his wolf seemed to have a pure energy about him, I didn't feel him to be evil!' Lana wanted to keep an open mind about all this.
'Lana we need to be focused, ready for anything! '
'okay... okay.... you win, I'll tone it down! '
After a lonnng shower and some rest Sara went to meet her family for breakfast, she felt uneasy, angry, but she also felt a longing, she didn't know what for.
'It's him Sara, these feelings are his!' Lana knew they were sensing him through the bond. She felt the need to go to him, make him feel better, but she knew she couldn't. He was trying to reach her through the mind Link, but she was keeping him blocked for now.
NOLAN
'Tell me again what happened! You must have done something you mutt!' Nolan was in this argument with his wolf Jax for hours already. He had a mate, she seemed to hate them, and after his mutt claimed her she disappeared without saying a word, not even a name, and now she blocked their mind Link. Something was definitely going on.
'I've told you one hundred times exactly what happened! We mated, we marked each other... and then puff she ran away, leaving me there. She won't open her mind to me'
Jax whimpered, he was feeling hurt.
'Well, forget her then, it's better this way!' Nolan was already stressed out enough with trying to figure out how to finish his mission. He didn't need a mate to come complicate things even more.
Jax growled in response.
A loud bang to the door had Nolan jump, he had been distracted, hadn't smelled anyone coming.
"Nolan, Alfa wants you in his office. NOW!"
A low growl escaped Nolan, what could his dad want all of the sudden? 'Please no more problems!' he thought to himself as he walked towards his dad's office in the pack house.
"Alfa you wanted to see me?" Nolan went in after his father grumbled something.
"Son! I haven't seen you in days! You look terrible! What have you been up to?" his father c****d a brow up, analyzing his appearance, he knew if he lied his wolf would sense it. So he'd have to give him careful half truths.
"Well I've been fighting with Jax actually. We found our mate, in wolf form, they mated and marked each other, but before we could shift back... she ran away! Left us in the middle of the woods!" He hoped this would take his father by surprise enough to not probe him any further.
The Alfa's jaw was hanging open in surprise, he was looking at his son like he had two heads! It took everything in Nolan not to laugh at the site of him .
"Well... I was definitely NOT expecting that answer! I'm glad you found your mate! I'm glad she's giving you and Jax the good ol' run around! HAHAHAHA!" His laughter rumbled in the room, making Nolan smile, but only for a second.
"Well the reason I called you here son, the Royal Family is up at their cabin, we were invited by the family for a dinner, since they are close to our borders, we will go tomorrow night, dress nice, keep your wolf in check, and try to find that mate of yours, I'm excited to meet the future Luna!" He smiled sincerely at his son, the oldest of his children, the one who had all the responsibility on his shoulders.
"By the way, have you heard from your brothers?"
This made Nolan flinch, he couldn't let Alfa sense something was wrong.
He was about to say something when Beta Cliff came back with an urgent phone call, the Alfa dismissed him with a wave of his hand. That was a close one.
On the training grounds Nolan couldn't focus, the Moon Goddess must be on his side for the Royal Family to end up so close to him. Now all he needed was a perfect plan.
WAM Nolan was nocked on his back by Jonathan again.
"where's your head at today man! it's like I'm training a pup!"
Nolan got back up, he had work to do!
Sara
"So Sara, how was your sneaky run with your wolf last night?" Maya winked at Sara who looked shocked and pale.
"Aw come on! You're noisier then your twin brothers going down the stairs!" Maya laughed at her friend frozen in place. Her parents had just left after breakfast.
"Well I'll have you know it was very...hummm... eventful!" Sara smiled shyly remembering that even if she was locked away in the back of her mind, she knew what was going on between the Wolves.
Maya c****d a brow up at her "Eventful how exactly? "
Sara blushed furiously but before she could answer, her brothers came rushing in picking them up and swinging them around a few times.
"So Sara Bear how does it feel to have a wolf?" Ian asked
"Yeah! do you feel stronger, as your human self?" Michael joined
" I feel good! I guess I feel different, not sure if it's stronger, but definitely different." she smiled at them and left the kitchen. She had to get the second part of her plan in action. She had to ger her mom to invite Victor to the cabin. He could be the only one she could trust with everything that had and has been happening.
In the living room of the massive country style cabin, the Queen was reading some documents and getting some papers in order, she sat by the fireplace in her favorite chair, she had the best view of the mountains from there.
"Mother.. can we talk?" Sara spoke sweetly making her look up
"Of course my love! How do you feel this morning?"
"I'm good! A bit sore from the shift, but I feel fine really!" She answered with a genuine smile, Lana was the best gift the Moon Goddess could have given her.
"So since we canceled your Ball to come here, I decided to invite the neighboring pack's Alfa and his family to join us for dinner tomorrow night!" She smiled excitedly at Sara "I was surprised your father agreed without an argument, I guess that's progress right?" She laughed
Sara took this as her shot to get her plan in action.
"Well since he has been so nice and accommodating to the Wolves... maybe we should also invite a Vampire family to join? That way we can hope they all become friends, and father would be very pleased to have this idea come from you! It would be a win win!" Sara's smile was anything but innocent, but the Queen didn't seem to notice at all.
"That's a great idea honey! Now I'll have to find some time to go through the list and find someone who would be able to come on such short notice."
"I'll be happy to help Mother! You've been so busy lately, it's the least I can do, after you had to cancel the Ball you've been working on for such a long time!" Bingo! This worked like magic! Now she had to find Victor!
