Molly barely remembered the drive back. She was too focused on being able to talk to the Director. As soon as they got back, she pretended she had to go to the bathroom. When she was sure he was gone, she quickly went to the office. She burst into the room without knocking or being invited.
“Molly! What do you think you are doing?” Marcello said standing up.
Molly couldnʼt help it. She burst into tears and ran to him. He was surprised but accepted it. He pulled her out at armʼs length.
“Molly, you need to stop crying. Sit down and tell me whatʼs wrong.” Molly told him everything that she found in the car and put the phone and sapphire on his desk. Marcelloʼs eyes got wide, but it didnʼt really seem like he was surprised to her.
“Well. I wasnʼt expecting this.”
“Iʼm sorry, sir, but Iʼm pretty sure that Durell is a dirty agent.”
Marcello stood up and turned around. He stretched his neck and then looked down. After a few seconds, he let out an audible sigh. “You couldnʼt just leave well enough alone.”
“What?” Molly said confused.
Marcello turned to face her again. “You couldnʼt just mind your own business. You had to be nosey. Just like your parents.”
“My… My parents? What do they have to do with anything?”
“They were just like you. Always poking their noses where they didnʼt belong. Itʼs their own damn fault that theyʼre dead. They brought it on themselves.”
Molly could hardly breathe. “What are you talking about?”
“Molly. Molly. Molly. After all the research youʼve done on their death, you couldnʼt fit in the one factor thatʼs been in front of you this whole time.”
Molly sat there for a second thinking. “You… You killed my parents?”
“Not quite. I never actually laid a hand on your parents. I just sent out the order.”
“They were your friends! They trusted you! Why would you have them killed?!”
“For you. I could see your talent even as young as you were. I knew youʼd make a great asset for the institution. However, your parents were stubborn and didnʼt want you to come here. I needed you to be a part of our team.”
That hit Molly like a truck. “You killed my parents so that I could live here instead? So I could train night and day and never leave this place?”
“Well you wouldʼve been able to leave eventually. I just needed you for a big part of my plan.”
“What plan? I havenʼt done anything yet!”
“Not yet. Itʼs not time for your contribution quite yet.”
Molly stood up and got into his face. “I will never help you. You killed my parents! You will never see me again.”
She started to walk backwards towards the door. She turned around to open it and was face to face with Jason Durell. She turned back to her adoptive father with fear in her eyes. He nodded at Durell, and a hand wrapped around Mollyʼs mouth and nose. She tried to get it off, but the feeling in her body was disappearing and then she was out.

Molly woke up in the front seat of a familiar car. When she realized where she was, she whipped herself up. A giant bolt of pain flooded her head. She groaned in pain.
“I wouldnʼt make certain movements like that again if you donʼt want your head to feel like itʼs gonna explode.”
“Where are we going?”
“Well you canʼt be trusted at the institution anymore, so Iʼm taking you somewhere else until youʼre needed.”
“Why are you helping him? What do you have to do with any of this?”
“You still havenʼt figured that out? Gee, Molly. I thought you were supposed to be super smart. I mean the way you could figure out how to do all those tricks while jumping in a simple leaf pile.” He looked at her and smirked.
Molly thought she was going to throw up. “You killed my parents. Youʼre the one that Marcello sent to commit the murder.”
“Bravo. Youʼve figured it out. It only took you 13 years.”
Molly looked down, ashamed. Thatʼs when she noticed that she didnʼt have any shoes or socks on. “Whereʼs my shoes?”
“Oh right. I was told to take them off so that you canʼt run away. Youʼre the key to our future plans.”
“Well Iʼm gonna tell you what I told him. I will never help you.” Molly took both hands and put them behind Durellʼs head. She slammed it into the steering wheel as hard as she could. She unbuckled her seatbelt and opened her car door. She took a deep breath and jumped. As she hit the ground, she tucked and rolled down a large hill.
