Upon reviewing your contract, I’ve decided not to proceed with your platform. While I appreciate the opportunity, there are a number of significant issues that concern me.
Firstly, granting rights for the entire copyright term is too restrictive. The limited ability to reclaim my rights, along with the difficult conditions for terminating the agreement, make it too rigid. Requiring authors to repay earnings over a three-year period—especially at double for Premium Content—is excessive.
Additionally, the demanding word count and daily posting schedule for bonuses aren’t sustainable for me. The idea that another writer could take over my work if I fall behind adds unnecessary pressure.
There’s also a lack of clarity regarding payment and reporting schedules, which makes it hard to trust that compensation will be fair.
The first refusal clause for future works is also problematic, as there’s no clear timeline or flexibility to decline, leaving me in a vulnerable position.
Lastly, the confidentiality terms and penalties for breaches are restrictive. While financial penalties are lighter than other platforms, the overall risks to my creative freedom are too great.
Thank you for considering my work, but I have to decline for these reasons.
Sincerely, Lexi
