Dear Stary, Thank you for the opportunity to work with your platform, but after reviewing the contract, I’ve decided not to proceed. There are several reasons for this decision, which I’ll outline below. The main issue is the extensive rights grant for the full copyright term. It severely limits my ability to reclaim my rights, and the conditions for terminating the contract are far too restrictive. Having to repay income over a three-year period, especially at double for Premium Content, is excessive and unreasonable. The requirement to write 50,000 words a month and post daily in order to qualify for bonuses is also unsustainable for me. The added pressure of potentially losing control of my work if I fall behind is too much. Additionally, the lack of transparency in payment schedules and financial reporting makes it difficult to feel confident that I’d receive fair compensation. I’m also concerned about the first refusal clause for future works, which doesn’t offer a clear timeline or the flexibility to decline. Finally, the confidentiality requirements and breach penalties are too restrictive. Even though the financial penalties are less severe than on other platforms, I still feel that the overall risks to my rights and creative freedom are too high. For these reasons, I must respectfully decline to participate. Kind regards, Lexi
