Dear Stary, While I appreciate the opportunity to join your platform, after reviewing the contract, I’ve decided not to move forward. I have several concerns I’d like to address. First, the contract’s full-term rights grant is problematic. It gives me limited options to reclaim my rights, and the conditions for terminating the agreement are too strict. The requirement to repay earnings over a 36-month period, with double repayment for Premium Content, is unreasonable. The demanding writing schedule, which requires 50,000 words per month and daily updates for bonuses, isn’t feasible for me. The idea that another writer could take over my work if I miss deadlines adds unnecessary pressure. I also find the lack of transparency around payment schedules and financial reporting troubling, as it makes it hard to predict compensation. The first refusal rights on future works are another concern, as the contract doesn’t specify a clear timeframe for this or allow me to decline offers. Lastly, the confidentiality clause and penalties for breach are restrictive. While the financial penalties aren’t as harsh as some other contracts, the overall limitations on my rights are too significant. For these reasons, I must decline the offer to participate. Sincerely, Lexi Bellamy
