Dear Stary, After careful consideration of your contract, I’ve decided that I will not be joining your platform. While I appreciate the opportunity, there are too many concerning elements in the agreement. The extensive rights claim for the full term of copyright is a major issue. It provides limited options for me to reclaim my rights, and the conditions for terminating the contract—especially having to repay earnings over 36 months, or double for Premium Content—are too harsh. Moreover, the required output for bonuses, like daily updates and 50,000 words per month, is unrealistic for me. Having the threat of another writer taking over my work if I fall behind is something I can’t accept. The lack of transparency around payments and financial reporting is also a major problem. Without clarity on when payments will be made or how they will be calculated, there’s too much uncertainty. The first refusal clause for sequels or prequels, without a set timeline or a way to decline, is problematic and could lead to indefinite waiting periods. Finally, the contract’s strict confidentiality rules and penalties for breach are restrictive, making me hesitant to proceed. Due to these issues, I must decline your offer. Best regards, Lexi
