Chapter 07

1486 Words
Damien's POV Juliet is current slung over my shoulders, still unconscious from me wiping her memory. At least I hope that that's what I done. After she had discovered what I really was, I had no choice but to force her to forget. The king is strict with his laws, even if I am his most trusted 'employee', he would kill me, my family, Juliet and everyone close to her if he found out she knew. I had actually saved her life and she would never know. It was also another chance to for me to see if my ability had actually grown stronger. I suspected who she was the first time I saw her, now with her blood sweet on my tongue, I knew. I suppose it just comes as a natural instinct—. A vampire will just automatically know how to use their ability and when it develops after meeting their mate it becomes something, they may need to learn how to control otherwise they'll use it without meaning to. I threw her on the sofa as soon as I walk through the front door of my house. Alex looks at me with a mix of disappointment and anger. "What did you do to her?" he shouts noticing the two holes in her neck from my fangs. "I hugged her! What do you think?" I shout back. He run to the bathroom and back, carrying the healing solution. The king made an agreement of peace with a witch and she supplies every registered vampiric household with a small tub of power that, when mixed with our blood, will heal any marks on a human. It's for when we hunt, we can use it on the human to heal their wounds and when they regain consciousness on the street they won't know they've been eaten from. Alex hands the powder to me whilst moving her on to her side, leaving her neck exposed. "I'm telling dad." he says. "Alex it's bad enough my brother prefers a human over me I don't need my dad sticking up for her too thank you very much," I tell him as I bite into my wrist to mix the powder with my blood. "Well you didn't have to bite her! You know what you're like, you don't know when to stop!" I roll my eyes and kneel down to apply the mixture on her neck. That was rich coming from him. "I stopped at the right time with her," I say getting sick of talking about this. He was right. Usually when it comes to drinking blood from a human, I don't stop, and it becomes a problem hiding bodies. Not because I can’t, but because I don’t care and I don’t want to stop. "What if she remembers what you done? You've put this whole family in danger!" "Don't blame me for putting this family danger! I'm not the one who welcomed her to live with us." I snap now standing. "It's fine as long as she doesn't know," he mumbles brushing a few strands of hair out of her face. The wound disappeared, and I brush off the powered. Alex was right, as always. I suppose that's a perk with being the big brother. He was always right. My dad is ultimately to blame. My uncle has an ability that the king wants either wiped out or working for him, but he is not a slave to his command like I am. Although if he gets caught, they'll kill him without question but I'm usually good and not drawing attention to myself so I could have gotten away with a life without the king. And it was my dad who let Juliet stay here so he has put Alex in danger too. It's just one big mess now. I get up and make my way over to the kitchen to make myself a glass of blood. Hopefully it will get the taste of her out of my mouth and I can just forget about this. "Damien can you just try to be nice to her?" Alex says and I hang my mouth open. "She's only starky to you because you make her, just smile and stop calling her stupid." I glare. *** Her eyes flutter open before she sits up looking around the room. Her eyes land on me sitting opposite her. I start trying to read her mind but I'm not finding what I'm looking for. She's just confused why I'm looking at her. "What happened?" she asks holding her head with both hands. I smile as she doesn't remember anything, but I quickly take a sip of blood to hide that. 'I saw that you little jerk.' I don't doubt that you did Juliet. "You don't remember?" I ask whilst swirling the liquid in my glass without making any eye contact with her. "Would I be asking if I did?" She drops her hands from her forehead and rests back on the sofa. "A piece of roof collapsed and it hit you." I gulp down the last of my drink and place the now empty glass on the coffee table. I hear a laugh from behind her and see Alex leaning over the sofa. Even though no one is looking, I glare at him. He better not give anything away. "Are you hungry Juliet?" Alex asks looking at me instead of the person he is talking to. Juliet shakes her head, but her stomach deceives her by growling loudly. With one last cautious look I walk past them and upstairs. I don't want a mate. I can't have a mate, I'll be killed. *** Juliet's POV When I got back to school after the incident with my house Carly and Ben are questioning me whilst Aaron stands against the lockers with his arms crossed. They ask why I was off and why I 'abandoned' them. I just tell them I was feeling sick and slam my locker shut. They were also spectacle because Damien was off too, and they thought maybe we spent the day together. "Raging blondie alert," Ben repeatedly tells us staring in the direction of Abigail who was now taking long strides towards us with her face a beetroot red. "This should be good," Aaron says as his first words of the day. "Careful, Juliet." Carly tells me catching me off guard. I'm about to tell her no but Abigail is already in front of me glaring at us. Jesus Christ b***h smile for once. "Do you know how incredibly rude it is to talk about someone without their acknowledgement." Abigail says to us crossing her arms and looking me up and down. Wow. "Well it mustn't be that rude since you already know we were talking about you." I retort. "I wasn't talking about me I was talking about Damien." She was clearly getting irritated, with me mainly. If you couldn't tell, first impressions are my specialty... sarcasm. "Isn't it rude to eavesdrop on other people's conversations?" I ask causing a chuckle from Aaron who was enjoying this far too much. She glares at him and if looks could kill he would be more than dead. "You do realise glaring too much can cause wrinkles, right?" She looked at me with wide eyes and an open mouth. I think I just struck a nerve. "What on earth does he even see in you?" she asks looking genuinely confused. "You must be controlling him somehow. There is no way he would stoop so low with his girlfriends." "Look, Abigail, me and Damien will never get along never mind become boyfriend and girlfriend, and even if we did at least he wouldn't go as low as you." Why on Earth am I defending him? Abigail looked as if she was going to leap at me any second now. And I was so ready for it. "Look, I don't even care what your name, is but if you were actually someone important maybe you wouldn't look so cheap." She wants to throw insults now? Oh, please that’s child’s play. "I'm clearly important to Damien if I supposedly 'stole his heart' whilst you're still in the stalking stage." I say pouting at her. "I don't stalk him." She says through gritted teeth. "Oh, so you don't look at his and his friends f*******:? You don't sit near him every chance you get? Face it honey, you're just being a creep." She pounced from her spot but before she had a chance to tackle me Aaron pushed her into a wall when his eyes got lighter. "I've never fought a dog before." She snarls at Aaron who just pushes her further into the wall. Ben grabbed my wrist to take me away from Aaron pinning down Abigail whilst Carly stayed to try and calm him down.
