Even though Fire Circle was a novice spell, it was still able to stall my attack a little so that my punch did not connect as heavily. For Miles to be able to enter the finals meant he really did have some skill. Even in such a situation, he was able to defend himself.
Just as my fist was about to hit him, he raised both arms and blocked his chest with his wand.
When my fist made contact with the wand, it curved from the impact but quickly returned to its original shape. It was surprising to me that such a small stick could be so sturdy.
Even so, its wielder was nothing more than a mage. There was no way he could withstand a blow from a fighter.
