Chapter 1: Moon Goddess

1352 Words
I am Katya, known as the Moon Goddess. I am the mother and creator of the werewolf species. I am currently sitting in the seeing gardens of the common house of the Gods. I live here with my siblings.  We are the creators of all the species in the magical world that is below us. It's a world that exists at the same time as humans only we have it secluded in the vast forest in the state of Washington. I have three sisters and three brothers: Natya (my twin)- Blood Goddess/Mother of the Vampires Melissandra (older sis)- Enchanted Goddess/Mother of the Witches Irina (older sis)- Song Goddess/ Mother of the Fairies Kayan (older bro)-Fire God/Father of the Dragons Kaleb (older bro)- Woodland God/Father of the Elves Kris (older bro)-Stone God/ Father of the Dwarves I would like to say we all live harmoniously up here watching our world below, but sadly that is not the case.  After we killed off...oops...I mean..lost our parents we all kept our guilt in us, eating away at the sibling bonds we once had. The guilt became too much and we each went our separate ways.  Still living together but never being in the same room as each other for more than a few minutes. Natya and I barely made up a couple of decades ago and being that we are twins, it was inevitable. We even created our first mating together.  Damian and Karime are living their happily ever after out beautifully. We are creating more matings of the mixed-species kind, now that we know they can be done. I should be ecstatic that one of my beloved Alphas is happily mated and soon to be a father. But I do have one promise that I haven't kept yet to a certain daughter of mine.  Adeline.  I promised her when she went into the Fade, the one good thing our parents created together, that I would find her mate, Beta Marcos, a new mate.   It has been one year and I have yet to fulfill that promise.  It has taken Natya and me this long to decide that one of her kind would not be a good fit for my Marcos. I have looked among my own daughters and haven't found his perfect happily-ever-after, either.  I had truly thought that Adeline would be it for him but I made a mistake and did not foresee my son's hate growing.  Oh, Karn.  All of our creations have free well and all which is why we do not try to meddle in their lives too much. Yet sometimes we just can't help it.  It gets boring up here. So, now I am on a mission.  Even if I have to talk to one of my many siblings to make peace. I made a mistake by not watching closer at Marcos and Adeline's relationship, I owe them. I also owe that precious Layla, a mommy. So here I sit waiting in the seeing gardens, pretending to refill my water bowl, waiting to see which sibling walks in. Melissandra walks in with her empty bowl.  Hm..witches.  That might not work in Marcos's case. His hatred for that species has grown in intensity this past year. Seeing as how their magic made it possible for my Karn to do the evil he did.  However, it might help mend my relationship with my big sister. Melissandra always doted on Natya and me.  Guess I will give it a shot. Here goes nothing. I graciously walk over to where Melissandra is bent overfilling her bowl with water from the seeing gardens. This water allows us to see how our creations are doing in the magical world below us.  I pat her shoulder to get her attention.  Melissandra jumps and spills water on her white see-through wrap dress. "Katya! What are you doing?" she yells at me. "Oops. I apologize dear sister. I meant no harm. I was hoping to speak to you if you would so allow." I apologize and lower my head in respect to my older sibling. "Speak to me? We haven't spoken for decades. Why you do wish to speak to me now?" she asks incredulously, then dismissing me by bending down to refill her bowl again.  "Well. This is hard to say but, I need help with a promise I made. Natya cannot help me and I was hoping you could, dear sister." I say softly. "Dear sister? Ha. This has to be good. What do you want, Katya?" Melissandra says with a laugh. "I was hoping you could help me find a mate among your species, for one of my Betas," I say quickly, to lighten the blow of my request. "What!? Have you lost your mind, sister? Why would I let one of my dear daughters mate with one of your hairy beasts? I love my children too much to allow that to happen." She says, raising her voice. Then she turns and starts walking away. "Wait, Melissandra. Please. In a way, I think you owe me here." I say desperately. Melissandra stops walking and slowly turns around to face me. "I owe you? How in the magical world, do I owe you?"  "Well. Dear sister." I say trying to think of something on the spot. "Wellllll...." I say to give me more time to think. Melissandra glares at me and turns to walk again. "It is one of your creations' fault that my Beta Marcos lost his precious mate, Adeline." I finally say to her as she walks.  I release the breath that I was holding when she stops again. I walk in front of her so I can look her in the eyes. "One of you witches or warlocks used his or her magic to attack one of my packs, thus killing Adeline and leaving Marcos without a mate and Layla without a mother." Melissandra winces at the last part of my statement. "On the day after she was born, Layla became motherless," I say for full effect.  Melissandra has always had a weak spot for orphan infants.  "Please, sister of mine. Help me find Marcos and Layla happiness." I plead. "You know I do not control my sons and daughters like puppets, the way you and Natya do, Katya. My creations have free will and I allow them to use it freely. Hence, I am not to blame for their actions." Melissandra says to me. "I understand, sister. Natya and I do the same every now and then. But please help me with this. Are there any of your daughters that need a good mate? I would say sons too but Marcos prefers females only. Please. He and his daughter have suffered so. Let us put an end to their suffering, together. Let us make peace, sister." I say softly. Melissandra closes her eyes to think and sits on one of the many glass benches in the seeing garden.  I wait for what seems like an eternity for her to respond and sit next to her, on the bench, after a few minutes. "Fine," Melissandra says and startles me. "I have been alone too long and I do miss you and Natya. Let us make peace. I will help you find a mate for you Beta, dear sister." she says to me smiling. I jump with glee and give her a great hug! "Oh thank you, sister mine," I say to Melissandra. "Do you have someone in mind for my Marcos?" "Yes, Katya. I think I do. She is one of my daughters that has suffered so, at the hands of those who were supposed to love her but instead caused her such horrible pain. My Camila deserves a happy ending. She deserves a good mate and a beautiful daughter.  Let us make this happen." Melissandra says to me with new sparks of life in her eyes. "Lets, dear sister, lets," I say happily. My Marcos and Layla will finally get their happy ending. I just hope my Marcos can open his heart to new love and a love of the witchy kind.
