Chapter 11

Kari’s P.o.v

The look on Rose’s face read my own, shock and horror. I thought wolf shifters were powerful and Phoenix shifters were weak and easily hunted, used as decorations in many people’s homes. Something else flashed across her eyes, pity? No not quite that, it’s almost as if she knew this would happen. “Sunflower, stand up. Let’s get you dried off, dressed and we’ll introduce you to the pack, sound good?” Rose said softly, she nodded and stood up, I grabbed the towel rubbing her down a little and picked her up. ‘Kari, we need to talk about the situation with my parents and see if there are any survivors. If so we must see what really happened, it is crucial.’ I nod then tilt my head, ‘did you know this would happen, Phoenix murdering that pack? If you did know, how do you know?’ We walk into Rose’s room, ‘I’ll explain soon, wait till Sunflower is asleep.’ and she holds out a cute blue dress, showing it to Sunflower. “What do you think, it’s pretty yes?” As soon as she looked at it her eyes lit up, I could tell right away she loved it and wanted to wear it. “I really want it, it isn’t like my hair.” I smiled at her cute way of saying it stood out against her hair, and didn’t blend in. Rose dressed her up and looked at her, smiling warmly at her “you wear it better than I ever did when I was your age, but my hair was a blue ish black.” 

Rose’s P.o.v

I look at Sunflower and smile, she does look good in my old dress. After a few minutes of brushing her hair and finding shoes that fit her all three of us walk downstairs to meet the pack waiting outside, including my parents to meet this new child that was rescued by Kari. As we opened the front doors everyone went silent and looked at us three, me and Kari held her hand as we walked down the stairs, they watched us. "This is Sunflower everyone, please welcome her while she is here." I announced loud so everyone could hear. They all looked at her and smiled, "hello!" They all chimed in greeting her, my parents stepped forward and looked at Sunflower and back at us. "We will all talk later, for now let's welcome this little one. Hello Sunflower, I am Alpha Archard, Rose's father. And this is her mother.” He said softly and looked at his mate with love and happiness, she kneeled down to Sunflower’s level and pats her head gently, “my name is Cahyra, your name is pretty Sunflower.” She smiles shyly and squeezed my hand, “h-hello Archard and Caira. Nice to meet you.” Kari smiled at her and looked at the pack, a group of young kids walked over about Sunflower’s age. “Hi Rose, can Sunflower play with us?” A young boy spoke up for the group of kids, the rest nodded and looked at Sunflower. I look down at her and she looks at me, her eyes shining with shock and excitement, “Can I play with them? Only for a little bit?” Kari got on her level and looked at her with seriousness and care, “just don’t go in the forest, and if you want to leave just say so and find an adult to take you home. Okay?” Sunflower nodded and hugged Kari tightly and ran off with the kids, he looks at me and nods. My parents pull us into the house then give us both serious looks, “now… she’s not just a wolf shifter, what else is she? And what pack is she from?” my father questions.

Kari’s P.o.v

“Now… she’s not just a wolf shifter, what else is she? And what pack is she from?” Archard questioned us, he looked serious and intimidating. Rose spoke up before me, “well from what I know her pack is Straight Arrow pack, and from her story her mother was murdered and her father chased after a phoenix, that’s what ended the pack." Archard’s eyes flew open after hearing Rose’s words, “WHAT? That pack was still alive? No one has heard from the famous Phoenix murder pack in a long time. But… the girl is part wolf, what else?” He looked between us and I stepped forward, “part witch, she told me her mother was always involved with her books and healing the sick and wounded. But she wasn’t accepted by the pack, her or her mother. And my guess is the other pack kids hated her by the way she got excited that they wanted to play with her.” 

Belli’s P.o.v

I walked outside of the infirmary and down the steps intending to go to Rose’s house when a group of kids ran past my path, almost making me trip. One stopped and looked at me, “s-sorry that we ran in front of yo-” she stopped speaking mid-sentence suddenly, I notice her red hair and take in her features. “Hey, where are you from? You aren’t from this pack, I know every single kid and other members. Where did you come from?” I asked her in a soft voice wondering if she would tell me, she looked at me and walked closer to me with a sad look on her face. “Who is hurt in there that it’s making you cry? I can help them.” She said softly as she walked past me to the infirmary I had just come from, I followed her curious what she meant by help, how could a strange little girl help Kai? “Little girl, what’s your name?” I asked hoping she’d answer that at least, she continued up into the infirmary before she answered me. “Sunflower, my pack was killed by a bright bird, I was saved by daddy Karni.” Karni…? Wait Kari? He found this little girl in the middle of the forest and took her in? As that thought finishes she stops and walks into Kai’s room, how did she know this is who I was upset over? She looks at me and points at him, “who is he? Are you mates? Put me on the bed and I’ll help him.” I look at her and at Kai, he seems like he’s sleeping in pain… I pick her up and put her on the bed, she looks at him closely and nods then close her eyes. After a minute she opened her eyes, they were glowing bright green and only glowing brighter with every passing minute. She started chanting some strange language that wasn’t any that I knew, Kai started to glow the same green as her eyes, the pain on his face was fading quickly and being replaced by his normal sleeping face. Sunflower’s eyes went back to normal and sat back on the bed, panting softly then coughing as she looks at me. “T-there… he’s all fine… now I have to go home… daddy Karni…” was the last thing she said before she fell back on the bed and passed out.
