Darkness swallowed the council chamber completely.
Screams echoed across the room as wolves instantly shifted into defensive positions.
Ava's pulse slammed against her chest.
The ancient whisper still echoed inside her mind.
He's already inside the castle.
A cold hand suddenly wrapped around her wrist.
Kael.
"Stay behind me," he ordered sharply.
Silver light burst through the darkness as several wolves ignited flames along the chamber walls again.
The room slowly brightened.
But something was wrong.
Very wrong.
One of the council guards lay dead near the entrance.
His throat torn open.
Blood stained the black marble floor.
Several council members stood immediately.
"Seal every exit!"
"Find the intruder!"
Fear spread quickly through the chamber.
Kael's silver eyes scanned the room with lethal focus while keeping Ava close beside him.
Too close.
The bond between them pulsed rapidly now.
Like it sensed danger.
Ava swallowed hard.
"That voice…"
Kael looked down at her instantly.
"What voice?"
Before Ava could answer—
A shadow moved across the ceiling.
Fast.
A warrior screamed.
Something dropped into the center of the chamber violently.
Bodies crashed backward.

Then Ava saw him.
Darius.
The rogue leader stood calmly in the middle of the council chamber surrounded by terrified wolves.
Blood covered part of his black armor while silver scars glowed faintly beneath his skin.
And somehow…
He was smiling.
"Well," Darius murmured softly, "this meeting looks entertaining."
Chaos exploded instantly.
Warriors charged toward him from every direction.
Darius moved like darkness itself.
One wolf crashed into a wall.
Another collapsed screaming.
A third never even reached him.
Ava stared in horror.
He was almost as terrifying as Kael.
The Alpha King stepped forward slowly.
The air around him became deadly.
"You should have stayed outside my kingdom."
Darius smirked.
"And miss seeing the famous Blood Moon girl?"
His silver eyes landed directly on Ava.
The temperature in the room seemed to drop instantly.
"There she is."
Kael's growl shook the chamber.
Darius only smiled wider.
"You're becoming predictable, Kael."
Several council members looked horrified watching the two Alphas face each other.

Darius tilted his head while studying Ava carefully.
"She's weaker than I expected."

"You came here to die?"
"No." Darius chuckled softly.

Darius's smile slowly disappeared.

Silence filled the chamber.
The council members exchanged nervous looks.
One ruler spoke coldly:
"You expect us to believe a rogue?"
Darius ignored him completely.
His gaze remained fixed on Ava.
"The Blood Moon Queen is awakening faster than expected."
Ava's stomach tightened painfully.
"I'm not a queen."
Darius stepped closer slowly.
"You will be."
Kael instantly moved in front of her protectively.
The possessiveness in the gesture was impossible to miss now.
Darius noticed too.
And laughed.
"The mighty Alpha King has fallen hard already."
Kael's silver eyes glowed dangerously bright.
"Careful."
But Darius continued calmly.
"You think you're protecting her."
His expression darkened slightly.
"But you're actually leading her toward the exact fate you fear most."
A strange chill ran down Ava's spine.
Kael's voice became deadly quiet.
"Explain."
For the first time…
Darius looked serious.
"The closer she gets to you, the faster the Blood Moon power awakens."
The chamber became silent.
Ava's heartbeat quickened painfully.

Ava saw another woman standing beside her reflection in the silver flames.
A queen wearing a crown of blood-red silver.
Watching her.
