"Dear passengers. We have arrived at our destination."
Nikki woke up to the pilot speaking. "Finally here," Nikki told herself.
After deboarding the plane, Nikki took the nearest taxi to her new school. Butterflies swirled around her stomach.
"Nik, listen, I know you and people don't work out, but remember to just be yourself. Okay?"
These words swirled around Nikki as well. "Time for me to forget about the past and move on!"
~One hour later~
"Miss, we have arrived."
Nikki got off the taxi and thanked the taxi driver. What she saw next almost brought tears to her eyes.
Mystic High was well known for the number of achievements it had received over the past years. But no one talked about its beauty.
The school had two grand staircases that curled towards the school's entrance and two symmetrical towers by its side. The building had very large windows and doors that it made Nikki feel like she was in a palace. Although it was old, it was a lot to take in.
"It's beautiful...," Nikki whispered to herself.
She then looked at her watch and the time was 7:55 a.m. "Oh, no! I'm going to be late to meet the principal."
Nikki carried her luggage up the grand stairs- still in awe, and walked in.
The inside was 100 times more extravagant than it's exterior. It was crowded and bustling with students. It was the weekend, so many students were hanging out and having fun. It was very big that it made Nikki feel dizzy. To her right, she saw the administrations office. "Let me go and get my Student ID first," Nikki thought to herself.
"Hello there! You must be Nikki Days!" said the lady at the desk. She was an old but sweet lady with curly grey hair. She had stringed glasses and wore a blue floral blouse with a magenta skirt. "Ummm....hello. H-how do you know my name?" Nikki asked.
"Oh please! We have a name list, darling," replied the lady with her eyebrows furrowed.
"No, I mean, there are there and hundreds- or even thousands of students here. How did you know which one was my name?"
"Oh, darling. Don't be silly. Anyways..," said the lady moving away from the subject. "Are you here to get your student ID and schedule?" the lady asked.
"Yes, please," Nikki replied forgetting the weird event that had just happened.
"Here you go. Principal Ava said she wanted to meet you at 8:00 a.m. today," the lady said.
"Oh, no! I'm going to be late. Thank you again, Ms...Mrs??...-
"Parks. It's Mrs Parks. Have a lovely day, Ms Days."
"Thank you, Mrs Parks."
Nikki then ran to the principal's office as fast as she could. Good thing it was only nearby. She looked at her watch. It was 8:10 a.m. "Shoot!" Nikki scolded herself. She didn't like being late for anything. Especially on her first day.
She opened the two large wooden doors. "Good morning! You must be Nikki Days," said Principal Ava as Nikki entered the office. She was a slightly plump woman with a thick bun holding up her blonde hair. She wore a green cardigan over her white turtleneck along with green trousers.
"Good morning, Principal Ava," Nikki replied. "Sorry, I'm late."
"Oh, don't worry about it. But please try and be on time for future events," said Principal Ava.
Nikki sighed with relief. "So, why did you want to see me, Principal Ava?"
"I just wanted to walk you through about the school. First, you will need to claim a locker- oh and please keep it clean. The last time I opened a students locker was a tsunami!" Principal Ava said.
"Yes, Principal Ava," Nikki chuckled back.
"Next, you will need to move into a dorm. If you're lucky, you might even have a roommate!"
"That's if we'll even be friends," Nikki thought to herself.
"School starts tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. as you probably know. And that's all! I hope you enjoy your stay at Mystic High," Principal Ava said.
"Thank you, Principal Ava," Nikki said as she started to walk out the door.
"Nikki, hold on for a minute...," said Principal Ava just as Nikki was about to leave.
"Yes, Principal Ava?" Nikki asked.
"Never mind- good luck!" Principal Ava replied awkwardly.
Nikki shrugged and walked out the door.
Principal Ava then sighed. "I'm so sorry, Rachel. I just couldn't do it. Not yet..."
