The carnival was set up just outside town in a large field along a tree line. A stage had been set up for the band and the vendors lined up along one side as the carnival games lined up on the other creating the parameters. Drake had gone to the carnival as a kid but never as an adult. Not that things had changed. It looked like the same vendors and booths set up. It was still Brooklyn’s first time and she looked at everything like a child as they walked hand in hand. She wanted to do and see everything and who was he to deny her. He doubted he could deny her anything. He wanted to give her the world the same as she was giving him. He felt alive again with her. He didn’t feel broken and ugly. He felt whole again. Like his old self. He still hadn’t let her see his back but he was coming
