Chapter 2

Tyler was waiting outside of the conference room when his phone rang. He felt hesitant when he saw who was calling him. "Hi, Dad," he said in a low flat tone. "Hi, Tyler. How are you?" His Dad's voice was always sweet when he was talking to him. "Everything is good, Dad.” "How was the plan?” "Slowly progressing, Dad.” He hated this topic. "Have you met the old Solitaire?" "Not yet, Dad. I have been working here for a week, but I didn't see them visit here.” He looked at the conference room's door.  "Please focus on the reason why you are there, Tyler. Don't use that opportunity to stay away from me.” His voice was venomous.  "Yes, Dad.” "Anyway, come home this weekend. Your mother missed you, and I also miss you.” A sinister laugh echoed on the other line.  Tyler felt disgusted. "I'll try.” "I am not asking you to try.  You know what I want. Come home, or you will not see your mother alive, and please make the plan fast.” His voice was now serious.  "Okay. Bye, Dad.” He dropped the call, feeling his knees wobble. The anxiety and fear were back.  Many years ago, Tyler's real mother died. He didn't see his real father, so he was sent to an orphanage when he became an orphan.  He stayed there for a few years until one day, a family decided to adopt him.  A crippled sweet-looking lady and a man with a serious expression welcomed him in the orphanage's lobby. They introduced themselves as his new parents. They enrolled him in a prestigious school that was where he met Travis. Until they transferred to a distant place from Bangkok.  Everything went fine until one night when he was fourteen, his Daddy entered his room and molested him. In a way, he didn't penetrate him, though.  After that, he was doing a lot of things to him every time he wanted.  Tyler became disgusted with himself because he liked what his dad did to him at a young age. It became a habit. He couldn’t feel pleasure without the pain. In his past relationships, he always wanted someone to be hard on him.  No one could touch him against his will, or he would hyperventilate.  But his foster parents did this to him. And now, he accepted this so-called assignment for him to stay away from that hell. He just loved his foster mother. She was so good to him. He really felt the love of having a real mother.  He would do anything just to stay away from his foster father. Even if it needed to hurt someone as he was told to do.  Avenge his Dad to the Solitaires without knowing the reason.  Tyler went out of the conference room, and Travis noticed his secretary was acting weird.  "Hey, Tyler. Are you okay?"  "Yes, boss. I didn't see you finished already.” He blinked many times, then he ran his palms on his suit.  "Let's go to the lunch meeting." Travis walked to the elevator, and  Tyler followed him behind. Tyler couldn’t remove his eyes from Travis' wide back. Travis was walking ahead of him like a God. He was really handsome.  The young Solitaire looked dashing. He was wondering what the old Solitaire look was.  They rode the elevator and headed straight down to the basement parking lot.  Surprisingly, Travis opened the front door for Tyler. "Thank you, sir.” Travis just smiled at him. He didn't say anything because he noticed the hostility on Tyler's face.  The whole ride to Mr. Pakorn's restaurant was eerily silent. The staff opened the door for them when they arrived, and Travis asked for the reservation.  The staff guided them to a six-seater table. Again, Travis pulled a chair for Tyler to sit.  "Thank you, sir, but please don't do this again.  I should be the one making this to you as your secretary,” he softly said.  "I noticed that you're not in the mood, so I didn't dare to make it worse. It is okay, Tyler,” Travis said as he looked at the menu.  "Do you want something? Or we will just wait for the client first?" Travis asked him.  "I think we should just wait for them," He put out his small notepad, preparing for the meeting.  "You are not using that. Just turn on your phone's recorder. We will be eating while talking about the project. It is not a lot, so no need to write it down.” Travis motioned Tyler to put back his notepad on his small backpack.  Travis ordered drinks for them. He got sprite for Tyler while he got Bubble tea.  Since they were facing the restaurant's entrance, Tyler saw a sweet same-s*x couple in their early 60’s walking inside.  Travis stiffened when he saw his parents. He got up and went to them.  Tyler stood up, but he didn't leave the table.  "Dad, Papa, it's nice to see you here.” Tyler saw in his very own eyes how loving their family was.  "I don't know why Dad hates them. His parents seem nice,” he thought to himself.  "We are here to eat. What else?" The man Travis called Papa said while looking around.  "I heard that you will be having a lunch meeting with Max and Tonn, so we want to join,”  His Dad said. "Where's your table?” Travis held Lance's arm, and Lance hooked his arm to Vincent's.  Tyler was nailed on his spot when he saw they were coming towards him. He was shaking with nervousness. But he remained composed.  "Dad, Papa, he is my Secretary s***h personal assistant, Tyler Ledesma. Tyler, my parents, my Dad Engineer Vincent Solitaire, and my Papa Director Lance Velez.”  "It's nice to meet you, Director and Engineer.” Tyler offered his hand for a handshake.  Vincent and Lance accepted it.  "So you are the cute secretary." Lance eyed him from head to toe with a smile on his face. Tyler's face turned beet red. He couldn’t even say a word. Director Lance was really pretty, while Engineer Vincent was just like Travis. Maybe if Travis will age, he will look like his father.  "See that, love? He is blushing. So adorable.” Lance clung to Vincent's arm. "He is just like you before. Even when you just saw me, you immediately blushed.” Vincent pinched Lance's cheek. "Now, not anymore. I'm wrinkled." Lance removed Vincent's hand. "Please, parents, don't scare my secretary on your never-dying sweetness.” Travis pulled a chair for his Parents and helped them sit down, then he pulled out one chair for Tyler.  Lance secretly raised a brow. In his 60 years of existence here in this world, he finally saw his son caring for someone except them. Even he felt that Tyler was really a nice person. A few moments later, Mr. Max and Tonn arrived, and they talked about the renovation of their dream house, which Tyler learned that Travis' father, Engineer Vincent, designed years ago. Tyler looked at the two pairs of same-s*x loving couples eating and talking in front of him. He wished he would have that kind of love. But before that, he will learn first to fight his own ghost. Even if it takes him to hurt himself.
