It can't be. There was no way Taizel could be so cruel as to hurt Cody, but the evidence was right in front of me. Cody's heart was lying on the ground with a piece of paper beside it.
I felt like I had failed as a father who was unable to protect his son. I blocked out all the background noise, including Alexandria's, and headed towards the box.
My poor son was dead, and it all happened because I hadn't acted quickly enough to find Taizel. If I had done something sooner, maybe nothing would have happened to him. Now, because of my inaction, he had to die. The tears threatened to fall, but I refused to give in because of Alexandria. What kind of mate would I be if I was crying when I should be consoling her?
