I fluttered my eyes open, hoping to see her lying beside me, but she was gone, and I knew it was forever. I rubbed the space she had occupied the night before when we embraced each other to sleep.
"Alexandria," I muttered her name and ran my hand over my face as I slowly rose from the bed. If I had the chance, I would have stayed in bed all day, but there was something else that demanded my attention—the issue with Elder Sola's son.
Once I was out of bed, I walked to the bathroom, took a quick shower, and dressed for the meeting with the council of elders. When I reached the entrance of the throne room, Tristan and Kylan were already waiting for me, but that wasn't the only surprise. Even the priestess from Kura and her sister were waiting there.
